Guest guest
Hi Everyone. I just got my pulse ox device and am thinking of returning it but will check it at UW on Tuesday. I noticed that the reading can change between fingers. It also seems to show my heart rate much higher than it really is. Has anyone had this experience with their device? Also, what Pulse Ox device is used by the most of you? I would like one that allows me to download to the computer. My insurance will pay for it. I'm sorry I haven't been on line much lately. I did try to do a quicky read of the 300+ e-mails in my box but will admit that I wasn't able to read them all. My husband is in Denver helping his 80 y.o. mother after aortic valve surgery and I have been working on the house, taking care of the dogs and doing some shop hopping with my quilting friends. (hey, a girl has to have fun right?) I'll try to stay on top of these better. Thanks in advance for the advice. Peggy E. (53 y.o. Guest guest
Hi PJ,Thanks for testing your fingers to let me know. I tried once to reply to this and it didn't go - let's hope it works this time. I took my device to the hospital today to the support meeting and tried a couple other devices other people had and some didn't even register on my finger. I took mine to the clinic and it seemed accurate on my index finger so I am going to use it there and not worry about it. , Dr. Raghu's nurse also told me that mine has a line indicating the strength of the pulse and that was good so I am to look at it and readjust if it doesn't show a strong bump in the line. Now I just have to get the courage to go play tennis and run around and then test to see how I do. I'll do it when my husband gets back into town so he can be there to emotionally support me if it drops a lot. Mt. Ranier was so beautiful today. I am trying to find joy in my day to day life and really feel how wonderful this life is. Peggy E. Guest guest
Peggy/Joyce... I too was told at rehab to use the left index finger for oximeter. Heart side and all that. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. Guest guest
Marcia.... what a good hint! Thanks so much. I will do that. No doubt I've thrown out good batteries too. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: Different results by finger Mama Sher, When my oximeter acted up and flashing and jumping around with the numbers, and putting in new batteries, and they didn't work and the second set acted the same, and I still felt it might be bad batteries, my neighbor told me to take a pencil with a new eraser on it and rub the eraser against all four of the contacts in the oximeter where the ends of the batteries would touch and also rub the two ends of the batteries with a new eraser. That worked and I found out the other batteries I had been about to toss out were also good. Make sure it is a new clean eraser though. He said sometimes oil or dirt or something gets in there. I wonder how many good batteries I have thrown out. Marcia
