Guest guest
I recently had my last (of 15) amalgam removed so I waited four days then started on DMSA, 25mg every four hours (I'm a heavy guy!). I did this for 3 days, but felt no different. I've now been 2 days into the rest, still feeling no different. Does this suggest I don't have mercury? My main problem has been fatigue and concentration problems, but I'm also treating myself for adrenal and thyroid.

That would help in telling us how your body handles mercury. Maybe you're a better excretor than some of us. And I wouldn't go by just one round. I would do a few more rounds at this dosage, and if you still don't feel anything, then I would increase the dosage, and do a few more rounds. And regardless of whether you feel anything using DMSA alone, after 3 months, I would definitely try ALA and see if you react to that. Because ALA is the real workhorse chelator that will cross the BBB. So I would never right off not being toxic until I had tried ALA.---------Jackie --------Another point. You are in the " honeymoon period " . Lots of people feel good right after amalgam removal for a few months. Then somewhere about 6 months after, you hit the " hump " or dumping phase, when your body and organs start dumping mercury, and you'll naturally feel worse for a number of months. See the chart on page 52 of AI. And Andy says its important to be chelating through this phase, or it'll be much worse. So I would suggest you continue chelating, and add in ALA after 3 months, if you tolerate it, and then re-evaluate as you go along.---------Jackie My main problem has been fatigue and concentration problems, but I'm also treating myself for adrenal and thyroid. --------Common mercury symptoms, and so is having adrenal and thyroid problems. And since you are already treating them, that can make chelation go more smoothly, so may be the reason you tolerated it well. But again, I would do more than one round, before I made any decisions, and a hair test would be helpful, and I would definitely try ALA after your 3 months are up.------------Jackie
