Guest guest
Glenn had the best day yesterday he's had in months. He even allowed me to trim his beard and cut his hair...he looked like an Ethiopian...looks much better now, more " normal " ... so unkempt just reminded me constantly how sick he is. Smiling, pleasant, congenial, talking, tearing up with emotions, eating, awake and no diarrhea all day long. The Oxycodone was helping with the pain and we applied a Fentanyl pain patch last night, so am hoping that will alleviate the pain on a continuous basis...thus adding immensely to his quality of life. The Hospice Nurse told him to eat/drink anything he wanted within reason...don't attempt a diabetic coma, but enjoy....so we had Hot Fudge Sundaes for " dinner " last night...big ones!!! He knew the effects would not be fun, but he did enjoy the sundae... And today is another day... He's still sleeping, so I'm not sure how many times he was up during the night...I know of 2. Hospice Nurse will come tomorrow (the admitting nurse came yesterday). They have a couple male volunteers that she will contact and see if they will come and just sit and chat with Glenn once a week or so... fix a sandwich or soup for him, etc. He hasn't played cards in years, but that's an option also. I will go to 3 days a week working bringing work home with me and still getting paid....then when the minute Glenn takes a turn for the worse, I'll just be here!! Don't know how I'll do it financially, but I'LL DO IT!!! Guest guest
Oh, Donelle, that's my song too. I look back at things I've done and wonder what ever possessed me to make some of the choices I made. I've learned a lot about myself since the cancer diagnosis, and one of the things I've learned is that even with the pain of the past, there were good times too, and those would never have been realized had I not taken the plunge. I just hope I'm a better person for what I've learned. Grandmommyandme@... wrote: Glenn had the best day yesterday he's had in months.
