Guest guest
What I neglected to say in all this was that Mum & Dad always (well, after we moved to Malvern at least, 1969, if not before but I was too young to notice whether it was Xmas or not) had Xmas just us at home. If anyone wanted to visit, fine, but we stayed put. Mum never put on the blackmail for us to " come home for Xmas " - she was more likely to say " We're quite all right, you know, you don't HAVE to come " (a bit hopefully?) That's what my sister did after her eldest was 1 as well - she would always see the family at some stage over the period, and some of us on Xmas day, but they weren't going anywhere. Her (and later her sons') church responsibilities were one reason for this - later on she used to do " the big thing " on Boxing day as they were so busy on Xmas eve and Xmas day (don't even ASK what the timetable was!). Graham was happy to cook turkey for 20 as long as they all went home in the evening! We had some wonderful Xmases at their house, too (well, cat allergies aside), don't get me wrong - I just wanted to be " allowed " to cook a special meal for my mum and dad, and never got the chance. And now it's all different again anyway. DH and I have had Xmas day together at home since we were engaged and everyone knows that's the way we do it! Last year we hosted the Boxing day meal and tea, but that was because of bereavement rather than anything else. It's down to Tim now to make things special again (sorry, typing through tears now, have to stop) Anneliese and Toddler Tim ps Lancome's " peel off " varnish dries really really quickly, better than that spray stuff IME, and they also have a regular nail varnish that's reputed to be a monster quick drier, but you may not wish to use their products. pps just discovered that the Sudocrem has leaked all over the changing bag in this hot weather. Quite an effort cleaning that lot up YUK!!!! But my hands are now very soft :-)))) > >
