Guest guest
, Welcome to our group. So sorry you are dealing with the colon cancer and chemo. But you will get through it!!! Most here are and have gone through the same things you are. Do not get to worked up yet about having the cancer back. They have to be very careful and check everything out in you so if it does come back they catch it at a very early stage. As for your fears of the cancer comeing back and every ache and pain makes you think it's cancer.... That is so normal for us who have gone through this. Everyone here will tell you that. We live with those fears each and everyday. I am stage three also and have had my first surgery Sept. 04, I still live with the fears of every ache and pain being cancer. I had a headache a couple of weeks ago that lasted three days. I almost convinced myself that the cancer had gone to my brain. These things are normal and I have been told that the more time that passes the better it will get for us. But if those fears do become over whelming then you may talk to your onc about anti-depressents. Honestly, there is no sense to stress ourselves beyond our limits. Please post here often and join in our conversations. We are all like family here and the caring here is so great!!!! Ingrid > > In April 2005, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Guest guest
, Welcome to the group. I can't sit here and say that I understand everything you are going through. All I can say is that I have been witness to what this disease has done and is doing to my wife. My only piece of advice is to keep fighting and always be positive. Sometimes your mind can definately play tricks on you as I've seen it in my wife. Positive thoughts, a strong will and the support of your family and friends will get you through this with flying colors. Dan & > > > > In April 2005, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Guest guest
, I agree with 100% don't wait around any longer than necessary. If the doctor you are seeing won't see you for 2+ months start checking around for other doctors even if you have to travel a little bit. I know when we found out about my wife having a " growth " in her colon we pushed to have everything done immediately. I think from the time we found the growth to the time she went into surgery was less than 3 weeks and that was way too long. The emotional drain on you having to wait to find out results can definately be devastating and make you worry which is not good for you either. Keep pushing, remember you are the one in charge, not the doctor. Do your research in here and on the internet and bring a notebook with questions. I found the doctors won't tell you anything if you don't ask. Most of them were rather shocked when they saw me, my wife and my notebook enter the room. Now they are used to it. And there are definately no stupid questions. Have them explain absolutely everything. Don't accept quick nonsense answers. If during your research you find questions that you want to ask the doctor make sure that you have researched the answers too. If they prescribe any medications find out what they are and have them explain to you why they are giving it to you and what the side effects are. You want to take everything into consideration before accepting treatment.
