In followup to several new inquiries about " What is NACD? " and how can

it help with apraxia/dyspraxia, here's an archive message about " why "

the neurodevelopmental therapies to help the immature central nervous

system can be helpful.

Below is a website in the UK talking more about Dyspraxia and

Neuro-Developmental evaluations and treatments (similar to NACD, INPP,

IAHP that we've talked about recently). They explain in simple terms

what each of the components and therapies are - very informative.

A quick excerpt from their home page:

" An underlying cause of dyspraxia is often an unpractised and immature

vestibular system

<http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Balance.htm> (the balance

mechanism located in the inner ear). It mediates other systems in the

body including proprioception

<http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Proprioception.htm> (our

ability to know where our body is in space) and binocularity

<http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Vision.htm> (our eyes

working together as a team). Imbalances in these or other

sensory systems

<http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_The_Senses.htm>, or the

retention of reflexes

<http://www.thesoundlearningcentre.co.uk/WBI_Reflexes.htm> (automatic

reactions), may all be implicated in dyspraxia. "
