Hi, everyone. I don't want to worry anyone, but ten days ago I received an email

with news that cancer patients have a high risk for DVT. I thought well everyone

knows this already, but I thought maybe some need to be reminded of it. Many

people who sit a lot have this problem, even people driving on a long trip or

flying in a plane. Or kids who won't leave the computer. It is good that you or

the person you care for get up and walk around. Except those in hospice who can

do anything they like. God bless them.

I am not really knowledgeable on DVT, but this is the link I was given.

Hi Deb,

I was diagonised with DVT a year ago October. I got up from my desk on day and

my leg started hurting. That went on for two days until I noticed a red line up

my inner thigh. I went to the Dr., she sent me for an ultrasound immediately,

then right to the hospital. Dr. said I was a walking time bomb, eeeegads. Anyway

they gave me lovenox in the hospital then started the Warfarin (cumidan). The

Oncologist/Hemotologist said there must be a reason for the DVT and said he

would find out. That led to my first CEA (7.1) and eventually the colonoscopy.

They found the tumor alright, then two weeks later they removed it. The Onc.

nurse said blood clots are common with colon cancer. All I can say is, thank

goodness everything worked out. I am still on Warfarin and I hate it. I can't

eat foods I love, like salads, broccoli, any green leafy veges, mayo, olive oil,

etc. etc. But I don't complain (usually) because I am still here. Hope to be for

many years to come.

Boy, I sure got wordy. Sorry, guess I just needed to talk.

Thanks for listening.
