Guest guest
Dyane, In your post to Z I noticed you were taking Tamoxifne and having hot flashes. Actually that is one of the side effects of Tamoxifen. I am sure you need it, especially if you have had breast cancer or are at high risk of getting it due to family history. Oddly enough it dows have the side benefit of helping stave off osteoperosis. Your Paxil, along with other SSRI antidepressnats, may hinder you body from utilizing Tamoxifen to the fullest extent. Other medications can interfere as well, but Paxil rang a bell right away. If you are interested in finding out more about Temoxifen and possible side effects and precautions, here is an article posted on the " www.breastcancer.org " web site. web site that may help. Copy and paste this URL to your browser: www.breastcancer.org/treatment/hormonal/serms/tamoxifen.jsp (I couldn'et make this clickable.) Oh, and you are doing very well by loosing weight to help reduce your chances of breast cancer. Also if you are looking for another vegetable protein besides soy, you might consider flax seed meal. I say meal since in its whole form, whole flax seed are not as readily available for good digestion. Another benefit of flax seed is the anti inflammatory benefits of omega 3 and 6, which it contains in abundance. Thinking about soy products, it is thought that soy lignens may hinder your body's ability to utilize thyroxin properly__this according to an article posted to the Mayo Clinic web site. However, as mentioned in this article, you need not avoid soy altogether. Of course I would not advise changing from Paxil. I know too well how it feels out there in that hinterland waiting for relief for depression. Jerry/Mississippi/54/IPF/dx April
