And does he believe in chelation, and has he ever prescribed chelators? I'm just very curious if he'll prescribe DMPS, especially if he's not familiar with it. But it doesn't hurt to ask! How long have you been seeing him?---------Jackie If he gives me a prescription, I understand that I should have it filled by mail order at the Falls Pharmacy for the best price. ----------I just ordered 20mg capsules in August, and they were $1.50 each. I think that's in line with what beigetable quoted too.----------Jackie What dose should I ask for? I have many symptoms and expect to be chelating for three years. I've just done DMSA at 6.26 mg every 3 hours. Round one was rough so I decreased to 3 mg but that felt like nothing so I went back to 6.25 and was fine except for a maddening, intractable yeast flare-up. -----------Maybe try 5mg of DMPS, and see how you do?--------Jackie I would want to take it every 6 hours (for personal scheduling reasons). Should I ask for a DMPS prescription for both 6.25 mg and 12.5 mg, and fill the first one and hold onto the second one? Or, since the ($$$) per-capsule price probably isn't much different for a small dose or large dose, should I request a large dose like 25 mg and then fuss with dividing the capsules? ---------If you can get prescriptions for different dosages, or if the doctor is willing to change them easily, then I would probably go that route. It is nice having them pre-made and not have to do the dividing, and then you know the amount should be the same/accurate. But there is nothing wrong with dividing the capsules, if you don't mind doing it, and then you can adjust your dosage yourself quite easily. I guess I would base it on the willingness of this doctor to change dosages/prescriptions for you. And remember, you don't have to ask for 6.25. You could ask for 5 or 6mg. 6.25 just comes from people dividing 25mg capsules into 4. Nothing magical about the .25.----------Jackie Thanks, Kris H.
