Guest guest
Jane: I am new to this group and very impressed with what many of you know. I went off predisone and since then my nasal cavites have been filling up each day. After many hours of misery each day I manage to clear my lungs with the exception of the right lower lob. Is it possible that my nasal cavities are draining into my lungs? How much of a problem is this? I know when I have that I have to cough it up and OUT. I know that you know our sinus dripping is the worst thing we have to deal with as far as mucus buildup which this monster stinking disease brings with it. I have always thought I have been so lucky not to have "THE COUGH" well that all ended. But it is much worse with the sinus. The transplant Dr. told me to get my nose dried up. LOL like I haven't tried. The drip can cause us to get infections. BAD stuff. Anyhow I know you know all this but thought I would remind you.. Wheezing is my reminder every day.. hate it. Amber, and I are going to a Jammy party at our church Fri night.. it's gonna be fun. Love and Prayers, Peggy IPF 2004, Florida Worry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. Hi Jane,My pulmodude said almost the same thing about the PF masking underlying asthma. I don't always wheeze but sometimes I do. Guest guest
Hi Peggy & Jane,When I was at National Jewish with the first doctor (Allergy Immunology doctor) she had me see a speech therapist who taught me techniques to calm my vocal cords to keep my coughing down (of course I think the cough is from the ILD now but I hadn't been diagnosed with that then). She also had me work with a nurse who taught me how to use the Neil Med saline rinse for my sinus. I use it some but my husband who has horrible allergies and sinus congestion and red eyes etc. started using it and isn't even taking allergy medicine this year (and we live in Pacific NW where all kinds of mold and pollen surround us). I do use it if I have been outside a lot as I think it does rinse the pollens and dust out of the lower sinus area. I think it is great where you have dry and dusty or humid and moldy or cities with air pollution and it certainly can't do any damage so is worth a try. They even have these handy packets with just the right mix of salt and baking soda so it is perfect ph for our bodies. I don't know if I could explain the vocal cord techniques but I'll ponder it and see if I can articulate it well enough that it could be understood as it does help me sometimes also.O.K. Need to do some work now. Hope you all are enjoying your summer,Peggy E. Hi Jane, My pulmodude said almost the same thing about the PF masking underlying asthma. Guest guest
Similar yes. I think if you use netty pot you are getting the same result. National Jewish wanted me to use the Neil Med and they taught me how to use it so that's why we use that one. It's convenient for traveling too with the little packets. Do you find that using the Netty Pot helps?Peggy E. Hi Jane,My pulmodude said almost the same thing about the PF masking underlying asthma. I don't always wheeze but sometimes I do. Guest guest
and Jane ...The only time that I have ever had wheezing in my entire life was this past March when I was hospitalized with acute bronchitis. I had never even heard the word before that!!! I now know what to listen for so that I can get help faster to prevent myself from getting sick like that again! It's a very scaring sound! Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z 65, fibriotic NSIP/05/PA And “mild” PH/10/07 and Reynaud’s too!! No, NSIP was not self-inflicted…I never smoked!
