Guest guest
Oh Doug, what a Christmas you had.. I sure hope Carol is feeling better . It has to be the bar that made her react. Hope she will start the supplements again. She needs to keep up her strength so she can get the chemo she needs. Keeping you both in my prayers. I know what 'job' of caregiver is like, had to care for my hubby when he had cancer in 98. Not an easy job at all. Talk about feeling helpless. I hurt for him, and couldn't do anything to help him. Give Carol hug from me, and you deserve one too. Take care and God Bless Jolene PS usually when you go to emergency room they know absolutely nothing about cancer. Is why my chemo nurse said that If I ever had to go to ER to be sure and call her because she would tell them what to do our come in herself. If I didn't call her they would send me down to San to army hospital there.. I didn't want to go there so far from home. Mostly when I went to ER was for my breathing (COPD) and once for my back which hurt like the devil.. Finally found out it was a fracture of some kind in my spine. Spose to get MRI now but when do I find time now that I am working/????? LOL Any way sorry to ramble. by againb

Guest guest
Jolene, Thanks for your concern and support. I can only hope that CTCA will convince her to continue her supplements. I think that most things are out of my hands. Hopefully I can talk to the dr first and then she can convice carol on what she needs to do. Thanks for your support. Guest guest
Doug, I am so sorry that you and your wife, Carol are going through this. Hopefully you can talk to her doctor an get this all straightened out and get some good nutrician into your wife who needs it so much. Have you tried getting her to drink Boost or Ensure? Just a thought. Love, Ingrid > > > > Oh Doug, what a Christmas you had.. I sure hope Carol is feeling > better . It > > has to be the bar that made her react. Guest guest
Doug, sorry your Christmas was delayed and your wife was in the hospital. Do you still have the wrapper of that protein bar she ate? Sounds like one of the ingredients may have caused an allergic reaction. Hope she is feeling better by now. Praying she is well enough to have the reversal on January 9. Keep us updated on her, please. Good luck in the new year. ~Deb from KS dlelsea wrote: Hi all, 1st things, merry christmas, even though I really dont feel like it. I had to take Carol,my wife, to ER for christmas. We still havent opened presents. It seems that she could not stop moving and shaking. She told me that she felt like her skin was on fire. We have gone to CTCA and they have given her lots of supplements to take. She was feeling nausious all the time so they told her to stop the suppliments. That was thursday. On Sat night she ate this protien bar that had all natural stuff in it. 2 hours later she was moving and shaking. She believes that it was the comming off the supliments, but I told her it was probably a reaction to something in the bar. Even though it was all natural. She has had 3 surgeries and still has her colotomy, that hopefully will be reversed on Jan 9th. She is very weak all the time. and now will not take the suppliments anymore. I know they are helping her, and with her weak state they wont even talk chemo cause that may kill her before the cancer. Has anyone ever had this happen to them the skin feeling like it is on fire? Any know how I can get her to take the supplements even though she links it to the firey skin? Sorry to ramble, just needing some support. Thanks for all the help. Guest guest
Ingrid, Thanks for your concern. To let you all know Carol is feeling better today and we even got to open presents today. I think I have convinced her that this was not due to supplements but due to the bar. She is going to call the dr. today and let her know what is going on, and to get a 1st opionion, since mine only counts if i say the same thing as the dr. but o well. I have not gotten any ensure but Carol told me that the cancer society will give you a box. So I think I will give that a try. but it will only help if she takes it. I cant force it down her throught > > > > > > Oh Doug, what a Christmas you had.. I sure hope Carol is feeling > > better . It > > > has to be the bar that made her react. Im not sure if I kept the wrapper, I did read it to try to understand what the ingrediant was, but was not sure. Had a lot of cane in it, lot of seeds and nuts and fruit??? Guest guest
Doug, With the Ensure and Boost you need to get Carol flavors she likes. They also have the Ensure Plus and Boost Plus which have extra calories in them. I know I tolerated them very well and they did help me. They are packed with Vitamins and Minerals. I hope she drinks them and likes them. Love, Ingrid > > > > > > > > Oh Doug, what a Christmas you had.. I sure hope Carol is > feeling > > > better . It > > > > has to be the bar that made her react.
