Guest guest
Hi Charmaine..welcome to the PAI. I've been here just under a year and have only recently gotten active again. Yes..you can continue to have acute attacks w/o moving into chronic, ....which of course you would want to avoid. That is what stage I am still at fortunately...called Recurrent Acute Pancreatitis. I have had, however, more atacks this year since my diagnosis with diabetes than I have had in the previous nine and a half years total since my first attack in 1994 (the foods that are best for each condition are are in complete opposition with one another !) Something I did not realize until recently is that it isn't just what you ate a few minutes ago or even the most recent meal, rather it can be what you have taken in over the last 24-48 hours that can bring on an attack ! This certainly helps explain to me anyway why I would have an attack even though I had eaten fairly reasonably " today " . And it has been my experience also that it isn't always " what " was eaten, as it can be " how much " you ate, whether you are undergoing a heavy load of stress and other factors that may affect only you. Do you have digestive enzymes to take when you eat? I also take Lecithin to keep things quiet...this breaks down the fats in the foods ingested. Hope this helps you... Jeannine ps...I am one of the few still working also, but find I am often not able to work the day of the attack and am pretty well wiped out the day after... > So I guess I'm wondering, is it possible to continue to have acute > attacks without having to move into the chronic pancreatitis? " Thanks for listening.> > Hope all is good with everyone else. > Charmaine
Guest guest
Hi Beloved family, Just checking in. I am having a crazy hectic summer and have not had time to wade through the hundreds of posts. I am down to 2 mg prednisone a day and feel great. Each drop ( eventhough it is only 1 mg!) brings about a week of tiredness and achy joints, but then I adjust and feel great. I am using oxygen more, not 24/7 but close and I am thinking that once I am off of prednisone completely I will be using it full time. On the plus side- I have been swimming each day and I love it! Previously I went to the pool with an E tank and regular tubing, climbed in the pool and did leg lifts and other small exercises at the side. Now I connect 25 ft of tubing to the e tank and swim everywhere! It is so much fun and I am having a blast. My grandkids love me being in the pool with them and I must look like I am having fun because they all want tubing like me when they grow up-lol! On the minus side- I did too much in the pool a few days ago and threw out my back. To say it is painful is an understatement! I am now vicodin girl and have an appt with a therapist today. In the future I will do new activites with a little less exuberance. Other minus- I have 4 papers due this week for my new class ( helping struggling readers) and that means I will not be able to play any of the facebook games that has gotten me addicted to and I will still not be online much. Love you all and hope that all of you are doing well. In church this Sunday, the pastor talked about contentness and said it was not being happy about your circumstances, but learning to cope with them. As we swim in pools, play on beaches, take vacations, live, laugh, love, I'd say we all are excellent examples of "coping with our circumstance." I wish I could document all the startled expressions I encounter each day when people see me enjoying life connected to my lovely green tanks- and I wish I could wave a magic wand and give all of us a day or two to live tankless. In the meantime just think of me as - Contented in California:) R. (53) Sarcoid/PF 3/2006 Carlsbad, California Hi everyone! I don't know if this is appropriate for the board but just got some pictures taken of my dog family. This is my dog, JOhnny. He is 14 years old and he came to me as a recue but I fell in love with him and kept him myself. He is by my side night and day. And, he is a mutt. I had such a wonderful day yesterday! for some reason these last few days I have been overwhelmingly sleepy and in fact was out and had to come home because I was about to lie down in the street and go to sleep. Anyway, I woke and was feeling good and took 2 of my dogs for a walk. Not far...just a little ways and then came home and cleaned up the kitchen and finally had a good friend over for lunch and we ate, and talked and she took photo's of my art work and some of my dogs . We had a splendid time and when she left instead of being so tired I had to go to bed, I continued to do things. Finally, took a shower, fed my dog family and myself and went to bed to watch some TV but couldn't sleep. I wasn't being an insomniac I just didn't want to sleep so got up and went on my computer and finally at Midnight went to bed. It was a splendid day! There are so few of them lately and I savored it so much! I am so happy today! Just because I had yesterday!
