Guest guest
Hello, My daughter will be three in March and isn't walking, crawling or talking yet. I have considered ABA. In general, it doesn't really jive with me philosophically, but I have heard great things about it and it seems like I am getting many " signs " for it.( meaning people around me are suddenly talking about it, someone gives me a book on it, etc...) So I am willing to explore it and I know children on the spectrum have had success with it, but my dd isn't on the spectrum...totally different issues. Any stories or advice would be sppreciated. Thanks for your help. Tara in NJ
Guest guest
My daughter turns three this week, and started ABA therapy in November. She is non-verbal, and is walking (she walked at 23 months). She's not on the spectrum either. We've seen a huge leap in progress since starting ABA therapy. It's helped the whole family, actually. It has shown us that she is capable of much more than we were giving her credit for. It's given her a great way to gain pride in her abilities. And yes, there is a tough love component. DH and I now know better how to push her, how to reward her efforts, and to expect more of her than we had been. We hadn't realized we were coddling her until we started ABA. This is just one family's experience, of course, and doesn't mean it's right for you. BTW, we're in NJ also, and we love our ABA therapist. Feel free to email me if you want more info. > > Hello, My daughter will be three in March and isn't walking, crawling > or talking yet. I have considered ABA.
