Guest guest
Hi your story rang a bell with me. Please scroll to the bottom story of this link http://www.addisons-network.co.uk/enter.html It is about a woman who hyper-excretes cortisol, and so needed to take very high doses until she got treatment. This may be the case with you. Like you, I was severely hypoadrenal before I was put on adrenal meds, and I found that when I first started prednisolone my body seemed to suck it up like a sponge - almost like it was making up for lost time. This may be what is happening to you, and it should settle down as time passes. Or HC is not strong enough for you - my hormone doctor put me straight on pred because he felt HC would not be strong enough for me. I lasted a couple of days of adrenal chaos on HC before switching to Pred, and got a much smoother ride. It might be worth thinking about. The other thing is - are you taking Florinef? If you need high HC doses, you may need Florinef. HC has to do both the jobs of cortisol and aldosterone if you are only taking that. Taking Florinef as well may enable you to bring down your HC dose. HC and Florinef definately work together - I know that when I increased my Florinef dose I promptly had a thyroid dump, as the cortisol was finally freed up to do its job of driving the thyroid hormones into the cells. Hope this helps .... Nicola > > > > > > > > I've been really researching to try and figure this out. What is > causing me to use up my HC > > so fast?
