Guest guest
To (please give your name next time you post): I am interested in your experience with diet and herbs. When I was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer, I went to a cancer nutritionist at St. 's Hospital in Oxnard. This woman works only with cancer patients through the hospital and the Wellness Community. She said she had one thing to offer me (meaning a person with metastatic CC): that was Coriolus Versicolor. This is a mushroom that is used extensively in Japan to treat patients going through treatment who have our diagnosis. There are actual studies done in Japan that demonstrate that this mushroom compound works to boost the immune system and alleviate side effects from chemo. She directed me to this website to purchase what she said is the only source to guarantee that the product is the same as that used in Japan: _Click here: Medicinal mushrooms, Coriolus Versicolor, Cordyceps, Maitake, Reishi_ (http://www.jhsnp.com/) It is expensive but I purchased it and am now using it. I had some periods of on and off the mushroom due to the fact that I didn't and couldn't eat anything, not even water. I am now back on the mushroom. I was told to take 5 each day (in 2 doses) without food. If anyone is interested in learning about Coriolus, etc., go to this website. You can look at other links via this site for information as well. I am also intrigued by your nutritional advice. I recently saw a psychiatrist (MD) who practices what he terms psychiatric oncology and has worked for 30 years treating cancer patients. He told me that of those who survive this disease, there are several things that they have in common and directed me to sources for those things. They included a nutritionist who wants to put me on a low glycemic diet (that is cut out all dairy and wheat) to reduce inflammation in the body which leads to cancer. (I could give you more info if you would like off line). This nutritionist also put me on certain vitamin supplements that are not antioxidants (which would counteract the oxidizing effects of chemo). The doctor also sent me to a person here who studied guided imagery in India for many years and has been an oncology nurse using these techniques for 30 years. I am involved in that now. In addition, he sent me to a person to teach me how to meditate and it turned out that she was just beginning a FREE 8 week class in mindfulness at my local Wellness Community. I am in that class not. BTW:; I am NOT on the low glycemic diet because I did not want to follow such a strict diet now during chemo. I hardly have the energy to shop much less prepare the low glycemic foods. I planned to try it after my last chemo session. However, your email makes me want to re-visit my decision. in California
Guest guest
, hope you are well. In a previous message you mentioned the low glycemic diet, which you said was too strict for you to follow during chemo, but planned to try it after your last chemo session. When is your last chemo? ~Deb from KS brencolinmom@... wrote: To (please give your name next time you post): I am interested in your experience with diet and herbs.
