Jane & Nikki:

I definitely do NOT recommend UCLA for metastatic colon cancer patients.

They wanted to have a liver transplant surgeon resect my liver. Instead, I

ended up with one of 2 wonderful surgeons in this area that do liver resections

on stage 4 cc patients routinely.

As for Dr. Lenz at USC, he is fantastic. You may need to stay overnight in

the LA area when you visit him as the drive is so far. But he and Lee Rosen

(who was leading the cc clinical trials at UCLA and has now left UCLA to open

his own practice) are the best oncologists: cutting edge. Lee was the

Primary Investigator on the Avastin trials and people come from all over the US

to see him. Just like Dr. Lenz.

Stanford, of course, would be wonderful (my hubby graduated law school

there) but it is too far away from Santa Barbara.

I think you're best bet is either UCLA's Jonsson

comprehensive cancer centers, and they are at the

cutting edge of research with a variety of clinical

I went to college and law school at UCLA so I have a

preference for the UCLA campus. It's located in

Westwood so it's much nicer than the downtown LA

location of USC.

Good luck with your choice!

Jane,

My father lives in Northern California (one hour south

of San Francisco), and he is being treated at Stanford

Univ Cancer Center. I think it is a very advanced,

innovative, comprehensive cancer center, and all the

staff is great.
