As expected he has expressive and receptive delays with expressive

being significantly more impacted. His receptive language has shown

some nice gains lately which is a very nice thing to see. He

continues to have oral motor issues. He has no tongue tip elevation

and limited lateral movement with stimulation. His bite is reduced

strength, but he has made progress with other oral motor skills.

When we have the IEP I expect 1:1 speech will continue to address the

apraxia and artic issues. The good news is that even though he does

not have hardly any language to speak of, he is functionally

communicating. YAY! The ground work is paying off and he is using

the concepts of communication with various sounds and posturing so

even though speech itself is very delayed we have covered alot of

ground.

His social skills are developing nicely with the class he is in and

we are seeing generalization of some of those skills at home and at

the church nursery. He is attending to story books more and not just

looking at reference manuals, although he maintains a preference for

certain themes. At least he is enjoying picture books to some

degree now.

Sensory issues, particularly vestibular are being addressed. The

class has sensory-motor built into it which is working nicely for him

and there are OTs present a good portion of the time, so while he

will be receiving indirect services here with consultation this is

still going to covered nicely.

The recommendation for elegibility was developmental delay at this

point to give us more options to work with. Sandy did not want to

confine him to a school age category yet as she felt that could box

them in and limit options at this time.

Overall I continue to be very pleased with the services is

receiving and the progress he is making. Now if we could just figure

out what to do with Chris....
