Guest guest
Dear Len: Where is this doctor located? Have you gone to Stanford? YOu need a second opinion. Yes, the liver and lungs are common sites for metastatic disease. However, I have never heard of someone saying chemo is only to help with dying. No wonder you are unhappy. This is BS. I have a neighbor with recurrent breast cancer now in her lungs (all over) and into her bone. She is on chemo and is optimistic. No one is telling her she is dying. The truth is this doctor has no idea how long you will live but staying with him will not increase your chance of long term survival. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Please get another opinion, and another and fight this disease. Avastin and chemo can work to shrink these mets. My liver is fine and so far the other organs seem fine. The nodules in my lung are too numerous to count but I don't remembe how big they were. I think the largest was 15 mm. My tumor in my pelvis is at the outside of the original resection. The left kidney is damaged by the tumor cutting off the flow down the urator but I have a stint in it now. I have not heard from anybody whose colon cancer has metastized to the lungs. The doctor wrote me off immediatly. I am takng chemo to make dying easier (dotor's words). Has anybody had this experience or anything like it, or heard of anyone who has. Thanks. Len McKinleyville,CA
Guest guest
Hi , Nice to hear from you. Yes the doctor (ONCOLOGIST) is here in Eueka, but I drove down to San Francisco and saw a Dr Ko at UCSF who is supposed to be tops in his field. He was more optomistic than Dr. Bonis but still felt that there was no cure presently. He said to ignore the statistics because I am a much better specimin than what the average statistic starts out as. He said that I could live as long as 4 years. Yes I'm on Avastin, and Oxaliplatin, and xeloda. All good things but they seem to feel the number of nodules in my lungs is the problem. I just had a Cat Scan yesterday but it will be a couple of weeks until I see Dr. Bonis again and get the results. Thank you for your strongly worded hopefull message. I enjoy getting those and it makes me feel more hopefull. Len --- brencolinmom@... wrote: --------------------------------- Dear Len: Where is this doctor located? Have you gone to Stanford? Guest guest
Len, You need to find another more aggressive doctor to treat you. It is never good to just give the fight up because the doctor does not want to get more aggressive. Please get more opinions on your condition. PLEESE!!!!!
