I was just going to post a rather irreverant post saying something on

the lines of " you remember when I said that life might well intervene

to prevent me going to NYC? Well I hadn't quite thought of THIS,

exactly.... "

(that was horrid I know).

According to the official business listing there was a 'child day

care services' listed I'm afraid.

I've just been reading some of the info on www.cnn.com and it says that

there is a daycare facility and shopping mall amongst the 7 buildings in the

WTC complex. In addition to the twin towers collapsing, a 47-storey building

has also now collapsed - debris from the earlier cascades of concrete from

the taller buildings had damaged the building.

NY Times (online) carried some eye-witness reports including a women who ha=

d dropped her child off at a crèche there and was in her own nearby office b=

uilding when the plane crashed. She went straight to the WTC but found that=

the crèche had already been evacuated. She was reunited with her (unhurt)=

child fairly shortly

That sounds promising - lets hope that they did evacuate all the

children and clear the area with them before the building colapsed.

DH was also unaware of the news yesterday until he played my message

at 5pm on his answer phone. He then went on the internet to check

our the latest news.

I still cannot believe that this has happened - the number of lives

lost and families destroyed must amount into numbers I don't even

want to think about.

There is a Jewish emergency service worldwide called Hatzolo which

usually gets to emergencies before the regular services do... it has

saved us more than once when we have needed a quick response...

It got there first on this occasion also, and now 14 Hatzolo workers

are missing feared dead in the rubble.
