Guest guest
Mike, Like anything else the participation of folks on this board waxes and wanes. Message activity did peak as you said, some time ago but I don't think it really means anything at all. This is a very active board, we have periods of more posting and periods of less. In the last two weeks for instance we've had a very strong upswing in the number of posts. Membership has not dropped but in fact has remained pretty stable at between 650 and 700 members for a long time. The vast majority of those members do not post anything at all but choose to "lurk" for whatever reasons they have. I don't know why it's dropped from the high of 18 months ago. I think sometimes people join and post alot for a little while and then stop and fall back and just read. If anyone else has any thoughts or whether you think there is a problem, I'd be happy to hear it. When first diagnosed, I spent considerable time on the internet trying to educated myself. Now that I find my disease (IPF '05) progressing, I find myself looking to the breath support group more and more. One thing I just realized in looking over the number of messages being posted on this site. The number of postings peaked in January of 2008 (around 3900) and have been dropping ever since to the point this last month (May) only about a third of that same number were posted. Can anyone account for this? Has the membership declined over that time period? Is it an indication we are becoming more educated and don't need to exchange information any longer? Am just looking to understand why the drop?Mike

Guest guest
Wally Well, you need to post 2000 times between now and the end of June to make up for it. Now, that you did post, how are you doing? > > > From: Beth mbmurtha@... > Subject: Re: Number of Postings > To: Breathe-Support > Date: Friday, June 19, 2009, 7:49 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > Mike, > Like anything else the participation of folks on this board waxes and wanes. Guest guest
Mike, My guess would be that. . . it's spring and it is so beautiful outside, flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, the beach is calling and even us sickies want to be out and about! Hope you are well enough to join us. R. Guest guest
Howdy Bruce, I'm doing good.... working on projects around the house. Can't do what I once could. But it is getting done at my own pace. Struggle one day, feel pretty good the next. Have to love this disease. All in all though I can't complain. I hope that you are doing well. As, I hope all of the members new and not so new are. Don't know about your part of Texas.... But I do believe the spring thaw has sprung out here in west Texas. Had a little rain and copious amounts of windshine. That is the norm though. Well, I appreciate you asking about my welfare. Stay well, stay strong and stay happy. Guest guest
Wally Well we have a moderate weekend still ahead with highs only in the upper 90's, but the first of the week into the 100's and there for the foreseeable future. Next rain predicted in 10 days or so. Of course last Thursday we were in the midst of storms that knocked power our for over 500,000 people. > > > > > > From: Beth mbmurtha@ > > Subject: Re: Number of Postings > > To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com > > Date: Friday, June 19, 2009, 7:49 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Mike, > > Like anything else the participation of folks on this board waxes and > wanes.
