Guest guest
I was recently made aware (by Kenny, AM) that Kirkman's has some articles on lead in calcium supplements. This would be particularly dolomite and calcium from shells. They claim that lead has been found at levels anywhere form .03 to 9ppm, which is getting quite significant. I started poking around, and it seems like this is indeed a real issue. I just did an order from NOW Foods, and talked to the sales rep. He claimed that their IL manufacturing plant has to use Calif prop 65 standards (since they sell here in CA). I asked for the details, and he told me that the limits are 0.5 parts per million. That's certainly better than 9, but I still dont' think it's great. Anyone have any more information on this? I'm assuming this would this effect calcium ascorbate too? Any ideas of manufacturers that have higher standards? Thanks in advance, Dave
