Guest guest
the first plan that i got when i went on medicare sounded wonderful until... i went to see the doc at Penn and found out that they did not have a contract with that plan they saw me anyway since i am an existing patieint (they used a different term, but of course i forget what it is) and we knew that in 2 months i would have a new plan the plan that was not ok with Penn was a Blue Cross plan the plan that i have now is a different Blue Cross plan so i learned that within each company, you have to check all of the plans then part D -- prescriptions... created another search, do you take a lot of generics or a lot of brand names? that is one of the questions you will need to answer before deciding on a plan Pink Joyce (IPF 3/06) IFA 5/09 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 Inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Insurance helpTo: Breathe-Support Date: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 10:52 PM TonyWhen it comes to Medigap, the plans are set by Medicare so the onlydifference between two different insurers on the same plan is the price. There are several different levels of plans and there are some goodcharts available on medicare.gov to help you understand the differences. If you are 65 then all are available to you. However, if you are under65 and getting medicare as a result of disability, then the plansoffered vary by state. The tools on medicare.gov will actually bring upthe plans and prices, but the prices can vary based on age.AARP as Peggy mentioned is very popular. However, for those of us under65 they only offer Plan A in Texas. The only carrier in Texas offeringPlan D or higher for those under 65 was a small insurer, Sierra. In facteven on Plan A they were $62 per month cheaper than AARP. I'd suggestspending some time wading through the plans and prices. Also, if you'vealready checked the major plans like AARP and Aetna and United, then Ifound a company which represents many of the others very helpful. Ichecked their recommendation carefully and found out they were right. This is medigap360.com.Your other option is Medicare Advantage plans but I don't know theiravailability and desirability in Louisiana. In some places they are verygood. In Texas they are horrible. Most in Texas are not PPO or HMO butPFFS (Pay fee for service) and I don't have a single doctor who willaccept any of them.Do a little checking and if you have more questions feel free to ask andI'll try to help.>> OK peoples I need help to find a medigap or whatever the hell itscalled- I need something to pay the amount left over from medicae part bon out patient surgery for cataracts- Ideaa anyone oh yea its here inGods play ground (Louisiana)>
Guest guest
If you choose a medigap or medicare supplement plan you will be covered at any facility that accepts medicare. However, if you choose a Medicare Advantage plan be very very careful in reviewing in advance that your doctors, hospitals, potential doctors, and potential hospitals are covered. > > > > OK peoples I need help to find a medigap or whatever the hell its > called- I need something to pay the amount left over from medicae part b > on out patient surgery for cataracts- Ideaa anyone oh yea its here in > Gods play ground (Louisiana) > > >
Guest guest
Patty, The AARP insurance that they are talking about is a Medicare Supplement. I have a Medicare supplement policy from a different company because I'm too young for the AARP supplement. Oddly AARP does not have an age limit on their Medicare Part D policy for prescription coverage. That's the one that I have. You're still working right? Or are you? I can't remember. Do you not have insurance from your employer? Or are you thinking of applying for SSDI?
