Monday was a night mare - i was drowning under a sea of labels. Both boys seemed to have survived the first few days - I'm worn out from all the extra driving though! My parents took a fairly cavalier attitude to the clothing requirements (and there were lots of 'em) of my school which I felt absolutely mortified about at the time but saved them a *lot* of that sort of work. Luckily it became more cool to have non-conformist parents later on in the school > > james Mine were like that - i didn't possess a school tie the whole 3 years i was one of my primary schools - or a proper colour cardigan - i would wear mum's wacky knitted ones instead. Once i got to sixth form i made sure I didn't have anything even vaguely acceptable! They did ask me not to wear the bondage trousers though (after i had worn them all term and no one had noticed). I notice this school was second in the school league tables for comprehensives for GCSEs last week - I think they have smartened up their act since i was there!!!! - no point switching schools as I'd just have more labelling! My fault for choosing a Prep school I suppose. The teacher shakes each boy's hand as they leave the classroom to go home - it's that sort of place. Isn't that what childhood is all about - maturing as you grow up and not wham bang on the first day of school! BTW she's fine now but the subject of her maturity did pop up every now and again until she left primary school... I guess you just have to be a bit sympathetic with him ATM and if he's enjoying the actual 'work' at school why not try extending it a little at home as a sort of link between home and school so the difference between the two gets a little fuzzy. My problem was that Kirsty didn't (doesn't!) even enjoy the work! Things are better now she's doing GCSEs as most of the subjects have been chosen by her and so do interest her (if only a tiny bit!). ann SAHM to (15/1/86), Kirsty (5/6//87) and Ben (11/7/98) DS3 due Easter 2002.
