Guest guest
I haven't shared this with many but wanted to tell you about my friend Sharon. When I went for my first 'chemo class' to learn what was going to happen to me next .... it was at my gyn/oncs' office. There was a lady there named Sharon. I guess I've had a pretty sheltered life as I had never been around anyone who had had chemo. She was the first person I had ever seen, and talked to that was going through chemo treatments. She had the cutest smile and always wore a ballcap (as I did later too...no wigs for us:) A good ol' country gal, just like all my friends I've grown up with. She was single, had never married and managed a 7-11 store. hard working, life loving and always ready to laugh. She was my example of how I would handle all of this. She was on her third or fourth chemo, trying to stop the beast and she worried about her cat. what would happen to her cat that slept with her when she was gone. That shows you a small glimpse into her soul. Anyway, I learned from Sharon that you just keep on keeping on. You slap on a ballcap and go on out in the world anyway. Someone has a problem with it, it's their problem, not yours. You can look pretty, and be bald at the same time. She never failed to have a touch of blush and eye makeup on. You can be fighting a losing battle, with everything stacked against you, but you never lose hope. You can love this life with every atom of your being but always knowing there is something more. Last Christmas, Christmas 2004, Sharon spent her first Christmas with Jesus. It was just about this time of year that she went on ahead. We made a deal that if I went first, I'd try to light the way for her....and vice versa. I have no doubt in my mind that my friend Sharon is there. Thank you for letting me share this as I miss her right now. J -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
