Guest guest
My husband started chelation with DMSA at 6.25 mg, 6.25, 12.5, 12.5, 25 and 25 mg successive rounds. He seems to have taken it well. So now, we would like to introduce ALA also. Should it be taken on its own for this round without DMSA to check for any reactions to it? The thought was to take 6.25 mg of ALA. If it is ok to continue DMSA with ALA, we are not planning to increase the dosage of DMSA anymore but plan to leave it at 25mg till ALA can also be slowly increased to 25mg. Also, if both chelators can be taken together, is it helpful to take about 8 doses extra of DMSA to help with ALA symptoms? Lastly, since ALA will have to be divided up can the 3 remainder portions be kept in orange juice (seperate doses)or can they be stored in powder form in a dry plastic container, wrapped in foil (to avoid light) and then stored in the fridge? I was told by Falls Pharmacy that DMSA starts to lose its potency the moment it gets moist - we have been storing DMSA portions in orange juice (maximum 8 hours).
