Do you know the copper protocol? Avoid high copper foods, nuts in particular, take zinc and molybdenum. (You can search on onibasu.com to read more on it.) >We also recently pulled all milk products out of his diet. Was he reacting to milk? >Also he recently had a white stool. I've seen " straw color " or maybe " chalk color " stool, which meant I wasn't making any bile. Would that be what you are seeing? If so, you can try taurine, glycine (precursors to bile - you probably need those together), lecithin and milk thistle. >We want to add zinc (for the extremely high copper on hair test and teeth grinding), Yes. >calcium (to supplement the lack of milk in his diet), You will probably need to use magnesium, which is what helps muscles relax. You want to make sure that the total magnesium to calcium intake (food plus supps) is somewhere in the 1:2 to 2:1 range. (ie, roughly 1:1). Magnesium causes loose stools, so if it's working but you can't get any more into him, then you may want to try epsom salt baths (epsom salts have lots of magnesium). Calcium, magnesium, sulfate (also in epsom salts), table salt, baking soda and potassium salt are all part of an electrolyte mix, that you may want to try - particularly if his hair test shows adrenal signs. >and milk thistle Yes >(to help with liver support because of the white stool. we are also doing a liver check). >I don't know how much of these items to give for a 4 year old (30lbs). Is there a website that has suggested doses? Zn = 20mg + 1mg/lb of bodyweight. Mg = 100mg 4x/day for an adult and you can work up to twice that. Scale that by 30lbs/150lbs = 1/5th. So, 20mg 4x/day. Milk thistle = 1/meal for adults. Perhaps 2/day for a child. Cod Liver Oil (Nordic Naturals is well tested for toxin content and cold-distilled) = 1tsp/day. Borage Oil = 1/4tsp (1gm)/day. Vitamin C = what he can take without getting loose stools. Start with 1g/day and work up. Vitamin E = 400IU. Vitamin A = 500-1000IU/lb bodyweight. Give a couple of RDAs of B complex. That's a good place to start. >Also which order should I add in the supplements? No particular order, but it is always sensible to put things in one at a time to watch reactions. > PS. There are more parents chelating their kids on the autism-mercury list.
