Donelle:

Please get him on probiotics. When you are on antibiotics (not to

mention

chemo), all of the beneficial bacteria in the colon is killed right along

with

all the bad stuff. You can ask for a live brand with millions of those

active little guys at your health food store. Do you have Whole Foods

where you

live?

...exactly what is probiotics?? Is it a pill or powder or liquid??

And why don't drs. tell us these things are available?? I did know the

anti-b kill all the bacteria, but for 7 wks we've tried all kinds of

prescriptions....and almost anything mentioned here (except for yogurt...

he wouldn't do

that)

Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle

Oh Donelle. Probiotics come in liquid (drinkable) form or in pill form. The

best are those you buy at a health food store that are kept in the

refrigerator or the liquid form (also refrigerated). It is the acidophilus and

bifidobacteria plus FOS, etc. that your colon needs to be healthy. It should

not

be taken with food but on an empty stomach (30-60 mins before eating).

Yogurt has some of these of course but it is more potent if you take one of the

brands that contain literally millions or billions of these. I just looked in

my refrigerator and I have Jarrow Formulas " Jarro-Dophilus + FOS " and also

Ethical Nutrients " Intestinal Care " . However, there is a very expensive liquid

form that I love to take that I buy at Whole Foods (don't have any right now

and cannot recall the name). One of them is fruit flavored and comes in a

six pack of individual servings (small). I don't take these daily but when I

shop there I pick up a couple. The pill forms should be taken daily and kept

in the frig.

Donelle, When a person does not feel good they get depressed also.

And then to add on top of that the length of not feeling good it is

not a wonder Glenn feels so down mentally. Hopefully with this

improvement he will start to perk up some. Yes, Glenn getting out

some would be a mood enhancer.

What I am so worried about is for YOU!!!! This has got to be

wearing you down. Do you get any help from others with the daily

chores??

Donelle, You have got to do something good for yourself. I just

know you must be feeling so down.

I am PRAYING and HOPING that now we see some uphill for the both of

you.

Please take some time for you. It is so very IMPORTANT!!!!

Love YOU, Ingrid

Don''t know what to say about your patiend. At least you got him out of the

house. but his shopping trip. Golly he should know he is going to get

diarrhea from

That stuff he bought.. He just wants to enjoy his favorite foods even if it

does mess him up Wish I could give you more that cyber hugs. You do need

to take some time for you, just as Ingrid said. A few hours at a spa would

do you wonders. Hugs for now. Take care and God Bless Jolene

I really did take alllllll day and evening yesterday for the wedding....that

was a treat somewhat!! Think my boss would let me just take some mental

health days?? NOT!!! LOL I so want Glenn to get somewhat better and maybe

take a short trip or two...but I also noticed the last few days, he appears to

have a yellow tinge to his skin. I didn't say anything, b/c I wanted to see

him outside, but it's definitely yellow. He will call doctor tomorrow.

Don't know if there is anything we can/should do or not.

Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle

Donelle, I wished we all lived closer so that we could give each

other breaks. One could patient sit while a few of us go out. Hmmm,

that would be so nice. I would love to sit with Glenn and help him

and let you get out with others. Just a little break would do you so

much good.

Or if Glenn would let his colon heal some then the two of you could

do a small get a away. I wish all these for you. Love You, Ingrid

Thanks, sweetie...I wish them for us, too...

Thanks Ingrid...

I just get so frustrated with my patient...LOL He does not take care of

himself... it's almost like he does not want to get well, has no hopes of

getting any better and would just rather die....

I did get him out for a couple hours today....he even drove his big ole

diesel truck!! We went to Denny's for a late lunch... he ate a BLT and Fried

Onion Rings...

We then went to the store and you should see all the stuff he bought that

is

not good for him (considering what he's been through, going through and the

fact that he's diabetic!! I really think he's trying to get it over with!!

He bought Chocolate milk, fresh fruit (which normally would be a good

thing),

stuffed clams, Hot Pockets, chocolate candy bars (for Trick or

Treaters...of

which we have none... we live in a locked front door condo!!!), cashew

PoppyCock, muffins and grapes. He ate some fruit and choc. milk when we

got home

..... and guess what?? He has diarrhea tonite!!! Grrrr........... He won't

give his colon time to heal before he starts plopping all this bad stuff

into

it. I even get diarrhea from FRIED ONION RINGS!!!

Ingrid, I have NO help whatsoever, physically or emotionally, and

appreciate

this group more than you'll ever know.
