Guest guest
I really doubt the homeopathy had anything to do with the increase in lead. Typically, through detox, lead will come down - it certainly doesn't soar by a factor of 14. Get those lead test swabs that I mentioned to you and go around checking things. I think the renovations may well be the issue. Their house is also old, so you will expect that any stirring up of dust will have had the effect of exposing them. While you are dealing with this, make sure to increase their calcium intake, and decrease any intake of vitamin D - so in particular, make sure they are covered when they are in the sun. (Serious cases of lead poisoning go up in the summer.) Well, I guess I haven't actually gone out and checked the paint chips but that is the best guess. He did some renovation on their current house (also old--turn of the last century) around the time of my mom's second hair test, too, pretty much removing a wing of their house and putting those stripped boards back in. I guess it's possible that even though the paint was stripped off of them and they were varnished he managed to get lead into their house, too, but I'm still not sure because the stripping and varnishing were done offsite. Or maybe he stirred up some lead dust somehow when he knocked down the old stuff...I don't know. Do you not think it is likely that somehow the homeopathic medicine she was taking chelated some old lead? That was what my assumption was, but now I'm worried there is some huge exposure risk hiding in her house somewhere Better to know about it, though, right? I'm going to visit them with my kids in another month and I already ordered the lead tests for soil and surfaces.
