Guest guest
Beth, I didn' t mean we had trouble exhaling but wouldn't the decrease in area not scarred cause left over co2 to be caught in the bloodstream? Dyane > > > > Hi Group, > > > > The other day when I had my ABG done they said I had a high level of CO2 in my blood. I asked the RT at rehab about this and he said I should try to get a Bi-pap (sp ?) machine. I need to find a way to lower my CO2. > > > > Does anyone here have any experience with this machine ? > > > > Thanks, > > Miranda > > LA / 28yrs old > > IPF 05 > > >
Guest guest
Dyane, The way I understand it, the gas exchange that's most adversely affected by our disease is incoming....getting the oxygen in. Getting the CO2 out is not generally a problem for us, unless there's an additional problem (like COPD or emphysema). There are exceptions obviously...as we said on the phone it's impossible to make blanket statements about this disease. Mostly because this isn't one disease, it's many diseases and we are all individuals and react differently. From what I was told it was when I exhaled the bi-pap doesn't put so much pressure on my lungs for me to get all the air out. I'm on oxygen also at night when I sleep. Guest guest
As further warning. As Beth said CO2 has to be watched very carefully with obstructive lung diseases. We concentrate here on PF and restrictive diseases. Therefore, for any who do have COPD or Asthma or any obstructive disease they need to be very careful in interpreting what is said here related to PF. The diseases affect breathing but really have nothing else much in common. On the other hand if you go to a doctor or rehab or group more knowledgeable about COPD then you as a PF patient need to filter that out very carefully because they can give you advice that is just wrong for you. > > > > > > Hi Group, > > > > > > The other day when I had my ABG done they said I had a high level of > CO2 in my blood.
