My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. In the days after birth milk production is very definitely under hormonal control, but those hormones are stimulated by suckling and by contact, as the days and weeks pass so the hormonal influence wears off and the breasts get better and better at making milk as it is asked for. Not you Jenni, yet, but wanted to reassure anyone feeding an older baby - this process only takes a few weeks (by 5-6 weeks most women have noticed that their breasts are softer, less full, less difference before/after a feed and many assume that they are making less milk - in fact they are making more but it is not so visible as the milk is made and delivered in the same feed). But even a tiny baby will make her mother make more milk during this feed - so it is true that the breasts are never really empty - the flow may be slow tho' hth Sue bfc
