Guest guest
-I am wondering if your 6 year old has any improvements with glutathione and that is why the doctor recommends it>?? Does he have medical tests showing she is low in glutathione ?? If she , like me does has low gluathione levels , here is my story , SOmething I just figured out and am happy to make more sense of my experience. Has she complained of any worsening of health ?? not only when chelating as she may do well with DMSA , but between rounds?? In order to increase glutathione NAC is recommended , not glutathione. Taking glutathione is not the way to raise these levels. What I have just read on page 204. " People with low liver gluatathione should take NAC all the time, especially because LA removes more gluatathione from the liver than normal. " So while taking ALA gluatathione levels will be lowered even more. I also remember reading that something to do with glutathione being necessary in order for the gallbladder bile .. Yes found it on page 111 " If the glutathione conjugagtion is slow it will slow the liver's excretion of heavy metals in the bile. This is best corected with N-acetylcysteine. " I am thrilled to hear this. I have noticed my liver getting worse since taking the ALA rounds with the DMSA. And I did notice that taking more NAC helped that symptom. So I guess I need not worry about taking too much NAC.. I just look like a pill popper junkie to my family and freinds and they are going to have to live with it!!--LOL So I wonder if your daughter is similar.. She is not excreting the mercury that is being chelated. Chelation not only means stirring up the stored metals but also making sure it is excreted properly. If your daughter is lacking glutathione maybe she is not excreting enough. Just a thought.. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, 18 rounds is not very many. I know Andy says children respond fast and I am unsure of what your daughter's health issues are, however, my doctor gets frustated at the slowness of my improvement (and I have improved a lot, but for her just not fast enough). I am wary of the " not improving fast enough " mentality. This is not a fast process. I think the one worst thing we do is not stay for the long run. Andy says that you need to keep at it. If you are seeing improvments it is working. Low and slow will continue to improve her. Andy does have a number of posts (you can search onibusa about stalling or slowing down). He does suggest sometimes taking time off. Are you doing 3 days on and 4 days off? You could also be in a dumping phase -see illustration in AI pg 52. I made very little progress during the dumping phase and I have done 27 rounds. Just recently on this board there was discussion about not making improvements and some of Andy's suggestions. Andy does say this takes time. Do a search with andrewhallcutler in the search line and you will see some posts where Andy addresses these issues. my 2 cents Colette > > We have been chelating my 6 year old for 18 rounds 15mg DMSA and 12.5mg > ALA. Guest guest
Is there a test to see what your glutathione levels are?
Guest guest
---Hi Dave and Shiela I just wanted to point out that some of us don't get any detectable mercury excretion in urine tests when chelating. I did a 24 hour urine collection test earlier this year whilst on a round of DMSA and there was no detectable mercury. And I am extremely toxic. I was extremely dissapointed as this would have been great to show to Doctors. But aparently, according to discussions on this board at that time, this is actually quite common, especially amoungst the autistic kids group. If your doctor doubts that DMSA chelates mercury, a urine test would be the quick and easy way to confirm what is well known about DMSA (i.e., that it increases mercury excretion in urine). > > Good luck, > > Dave >
