Guest guest
Well hope my suggestions help some. How old are your children? I have two batches. LOL the three oldest were born in 62,63 and 65 - then we took a break and last two were born in 71 and 75. Believe me the one born in 71 was a whole new ball game.. LOL. Sure hope you get over that cold soon. I drink a lot of tea with honey when I have a cold, though don't know what honey will do for the diarrhea.. Course a nice hot toddy (whiskey, water and honey) will do the trick and you should sleep good too. LOL.. Hope the little ones will be okay soon too. Poor babies. I had a lot of ear aches when I was little.. Mom rocked me to sleep many a night.. My kids had them too but not so bad. Somewhere along the way I read an article that some doctor said that using nasal spray back then it was some children's brand neosynephrine I think (it comes in different strengths) and now days the saline nasal spray.. Using it will prevent the ear infections. So I always kept some nasal spray handy. It seemed to make a difference. .. Take care. Jolene RE: Diarrhea- Jolene Hi Jolene thank you for the suggestions... I wonder why the iced tea works? Perhaps the tannic acid - since there is still caffeine... I will try to switch from coffee to that - has to be hot tea right now due to the horrible cold and sinus infection I am trying to fight off. I am even sitting up in the middle of the night drinking camomile tea to try to stop coughing - this is a tough one - got it from the kids. I have always utilized the BRAT diet too - or whatever soft foods they can tolerate to get the kids eating again - unfortunately - I am still going through all of that toddler stuff since my husband and I started over again - have a 4 and 5 year old and currently 4 infected ears between them! Yes at my age.. sigh. They are the joy of my life though - diarrhea, ear infections and all. Well have a beautiful day, look forward to hearing from you again soon. Pat Jolene Ehret wrote: Pat No I didn't have the colostomy or illeostomy.. Lucky I guess. But had one awful attack of diarrhea during chemo when wbc and potassium were way low. It was miserable. I never did get depends but borrowed granddaughters pads, and put towels under me. I took Imodium and finally it helped. So far have been okay but do notice if I go overboard on veggies that I have to be careful - it will surprise me. Since I am off chemo have more trouble with constipation. I drink a lot of water, almost no soda. some ice tea when I make it (always caffeinated). Why drink it if I can't get my caffeine. I don't over due the caffeine but feel it does give me some boost throughout the day. I drink really weak instant coffee and is warmish to cold (not iced).. I am surprised that docs are not supporting the BRAT as much any more especially how worried they are that child will dehydrate so fast. Why subject a child to numerous bouts of diarrhea? That make no sense, their poor little butts would be so sore.. No I couldn't do that. As my children grew up I treated them the way my mom treated me, and with common sense. I seldom took them to the doc unless they had fevers. It was such a pain to go to military hospitals when they were little. Well I sure hope that you can find a happy medium with food and elimination so it is easier to live with. I know how miserable I was when I had diarrhea. Take care Jolene _____
