Guest guest
Ginny, Before I was diagnosed I was so happy with myself, I lost 35 pounds and thought it was because I wastrying... not much appetite . When I was diagnosed I was told that is the case with a LOT of IPF or PF patients. So that popped my bubble. Love and Prayers, Peggy IPF 2004, FloridaWorry looks around, Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. I've always been a big eater (3 meals a day plus snacks). Now I only eat 2 meals a day and have to force myself to eat. This started 2 months ago. Does this symptom go along with Pulmonary Fibrosis? Guest guest
I second that emotion. I lost 45 pounds in 14 weeks. Size 24 to a 12 and I was elated. Now this surgery tomorrow, after it they tell me I will lose 15-20 pounds. I say PRAISE THE LORD. Maybe this old woman will get her figure back (sort of) and go out looking for me a rich husband. Oh wait, he may not have money but mine is Rich. LOL. I pray sunshine and flowers for all my air family on this beautiful but chilly North Idaho morning. My surgery is at 12:30pm tomorrow so would appreciate some thoughts and prayers headed my way at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane (land of the brain dead doctors). Guest guest
Hi Ginny, Any lung ailment effects appetite eventually. My father died from emphysema and I couldn't understand how he could be short of breath from drinking Ensure. His doctor explained that he was down to 10% lung capacity and his brain was choosing breathing and using the O2 for more critical organs than for the muscles in the stomach to digest food. Of course I lose my appetite in the heat and have even as a kid so maybe that might be your particular situation. Can you think of anything that sounds good? Ice cream, cold strawberries . . . I know that everything I have read talks about having more smaller meals which I think would help if you have GERD too. Let us know if you figure something out.
