Guest guest
I was given Aloxi by infusion during the last 2 chemo sessions. It is supposed to be good for 3 days. This time, they also gave me Amend, which is a very strong anti-nausea med by mouth for 3 days. I am on both now and I have just a touch of quiesiness in my tummy but was outside this morning cleaning up with my 48 hour 5FU pump. Real cute. I recommend Aloxi and Amend to any of you having a difficult time. I was told, however, that to get the insurance to pay, they like to start you on all the regular meds (e.g., compazine, Kytril, Zofran) but when they don't work, they upgrade to Aloxi and then Amend. I was told AMend is a $500 RX but my co-pay is only $35. In a message dated 11/2/2005 7:50:42 AM Pacific Standard Time, mlhilbrand@... writes: Just FYI. My husband received this prior to each of his chemo treatments. His onc also prescribed oral anti-nausea & anti diarrhea meds that he took for the first 3-4 days following each treatment as preventative. I know everyone is different, but he had very little problem with nausea and diarrhea when he followed this regime, regardless of which chemo drugs he was on.
