If the doctor offers no prescription, my understanding is that DHEA is available OTC in the US. See AI for doses (Pregnenolone is also available OTC, and adrenal cortex extract. You may want to try these to see if you get any symptom relief.) > > Progesterone, Serum: <10 (<10-135 for cycle Days 7-12; this was my Day 10) Need a script for progesterone cream. See Dr. Lee's books (www.noamalgam.com/buythebooks.html) > > Testosterone, Serum (Total): 6.0 ng/dL (Adult Premenopausal Females: 10 - 55) Need a script for testosterone cream. See AI for dose range. Testosterone is produced in part by the adrenals. Low DHEA and low testosterone (in a female) may be one indication of adrenal fatigue. (In the early stages of adrenal fatigue testosterone can be high in females, because the adrenals are trying hard to put out cortisol and put out testosterone as a by product, then as the adrenals burn out testosterone falls. Not sure if this is the case with males.) > > Free T4, Direct, Serum: 1.37 ng/dl (0.6 - 1.7) not too bad > > TSH: 1.885 uIU/mL (0.350 - 5.500) not useful > > Reverse T3: 267 pg/mL (90 - 350) > > Estrogens, Total: 51 pg/mL (Cycle Days 1-10: 61 - 394) My estrogen has never been low, so I am not up on estrogen replacement. See Dr. Lee's books. > > Ferritin, Serum <1 L ng/mL (10 - 291) As you already know, this is a problem. I was able to get ferritin up by taking ferrous fumarate suspension (available OTC at a pharmacy, take as directed, with vitamin C). Iron supplementation does turn stools black. Also, shave cheap cuts of fresh red meat, steam, and drink the juice. Investigate diet and supplement interventions that heal the gut. > > Antithyroglobulin Ab <20 IU/mL (0 - 40) > > Free T3, Serum: 2.8 pg/mL (2.3 - 4.2) > > This is lower than optimal according to Andy's standards. Check symptoms against hypothyroid symptoms. It would be a good idea to get a 4x per day saliva cortisol test. There are many things going on with your hormones, so it is difficult to sort it all out. It may be possible to find a doctor who uses Dr. Lee's books, for starters.
