Guest guest
Jeff: You attitude is great and you will be a survivor. You are making a good choice by having the surgery in 2 parts. I didn't. I had all of my surgery done at once - colon resection, liver resection, removal of gall bladder, lymphs and cancerous appendix. As a result of doing it all at once, I had HORRIBLE complications that nearly killed me. On day 7, I developed an abscess on my liver, ascites all over, fluid in my lungs, fever, etc. I am told I was at the brink of death and the fact that I survived is a testament to the fine care I received by my doctors at the Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa . I had a pulmonary specialist draining fluid from my lungs, an infectious disease physician working with numerous antibiotics, an interventional radiologist who placed catheters everywhere to drain the ascites and the fluid from the absessed liver, and of course, my oncologist and surgeons. You are avoiding the danger of all of this by having 2 surgeries. I took the risk and I paid the price. You will come through this well and because everything in your colon is now healed and won't be open, you won't get these cross-over infections. Best wishes.
