Guest guest
, Some of these have illegals. The cod liver oil seems to be okay... although something (soy or??) may be causing him a problem, it does not appear to be illegal. However, the Digestzyme has bifidus (bifid bacterium longum), which is not legal on SCD. There are legal enzymes listed on the website, www.pecanbread.com . You can also always go to that website, click on " supplements " and check the " illegal supplement additives " list against the label of any supplement bottle. The Cal-Mag-Zinc has sorbitol and xanthan gum... both of which are illegal. Patti Supplements Today my son has 26 days with SCD, he has been improving slowly. The nutritionist recommended gives him these supplements: CAL-MAG ZINCO LIQUID (NU-VISTA PROFESSIONAL FORMULAS) VITAMIN B-6 (NU-VISTA), DIGESTZYME (TRANSFORMATION) AND ARCTIC COD LIVER OIL (NORDIC NATURALS). I gave him 10ml on Sunday of the Cod liver, but I made a big mistake: I didn't read the supplement facts before, and one hour (more or less) after he took the cod liver oil doses he began to have his red chicks and his body temperature was high, loose energy and has a seizure. This supplement contain: vit A, D, E, omega-3s (DHA;EPA, other Omega-3s) oleic Acid, orange oil. NO gluten, yeast, artificial colors or flavors. But It may contain traces of milk and/or soy derivates. Two years ago my son had severe reactions to soy, and I don't know if this small dose was enough to cause this symptoms. The Digestzyme (Transformation) contains: Amylase, protease, lipase, cellulose, invertase, malt diastase, lactase, lactobacillus acidophilus and bifid bacterium longum, other ingredients like vegetarian capsule (cellulose and water). Antoinette mentioned that Elaine didn't like to use protease contained in enzymes. One year ago when I tried to stop to give him the enzymes he had strange symptoms like belly spastics movements without pain just the movements each time he ate or drink every think. I'm not sure if the lack of enzymes had caused this problem, but I try twice the same process and the consequences were the same. The Cal-Mag zinc liquid (nu-vista) contains: Vit. D-3 as cholecalciferol, Calcium as tricalcium phosphate, calcium lactate 5H2O, citrate, gluconate, Magnesium as magnesium hydroxide, magnesium carbonate, phosphorus as tricalcium phosphate, zinc as zinc citrate and potassium as potassium citrate, chloride, other ingredients are sornbitol, cerhylose (cellulose suspending agent), natural vanilla, xanthum gum, methylparaben and propylparaben. Are those substances legal? ---------------------------------
Guest guest
, We reacted to Nordics Natural cod liver oil, we have done much better using Carlson's Cod liver oil, it has added lemon oil to it for flavor, is much less rancid than Nordic Naturals, and has no illegals. Guest guest
the reaction to the cod liver oil may in fact have been a heightened immune response from the vit a in the cod liver oil which would imply viral issues and possibly a brain virus i don't use cod liver oil cuase i suspect that its not possible to fliter all the organic toxins out of cod liver oil, whereas straight fish oil can be successfully filtered the digestizyme is illegal with the bifidus in a good range of enzymes are the www.houstonni.com pep, hn-zyme and no fenol which elaine has approved i would have more confidence in antionettes judgement on proteases if she had been prepared to discuss what enzymes she had used and how she had used them, but since she would not do this i do not have confidence in her comments enzymes are very brand dependent, theres the good, the bad and the ugly and you can't tell what is what unless you try them the zinc citrate is a yeast feeder in the cal mag liquid zinc is a yeats feeder i have written up on all this in 'minerals i take' and 'copper and zinc' in the index of http://tinyurl.com/2csa3 but let me guess, the incompedent advice of the nutrtionalist is preferred to doing any reading or thinking yourslef and rather than thank me for the time i have taken to write this you will be offended. that zinc has more illegals in than any other supplement i ahve seen brain viruses are tricky and no way should any more vaccines be given also read about skin vitamin d in the index oh well time to see if my hated posts are being checked on moderation again *send* > > Today my son has 26 days with SCD, he has been improving slowly. Guest guest
Dear , When I bought supplements I take my printed legal and illegal list with me. This became maddening, because we where not seeing the success Elaine promised. So we had decided to keep it simple and do only what Elaine suggests in her BTVC book, I highlighted it from cover to cover! I ended up returning over $300.00 in supplements, enzymes and all sorts of crap that where keeping my daughter and my self form ending the vicious cycle. Thanks to ingesting illegals and doing things that Elaine feared would keep the vicious cycle going. With MOSTLY SCD digestible foods, and FREEDA's crushed multi-vitamins, B12, and a little Nordic Naturals or Carlson's Fish Oil, and tons of goat yogurt.....we are seeing a miracle. I am glad that this simple is working for us. You may want to try it too, it is all in the book. Even Elaine realized that most doctors and dieticians do not understand how SCD works, and they always want to suggests MORE. But in some cases more is not better, it keeps SCD from working in toooooooooo many cases out there! This truly upset Elaine and should upset us. Please feel free to contact me off serve and I will discuss what happened to us in more detail. Hope this helps, Antoinette (celiac), KIki -2 (autistic, celiac, seizures (gone) and deliriums (gone) SCD TM/by the BTVC book 2/06 Supplements Today my son has 26 days with SCD, he has been improving slowly. Dear list mates, the reason to why we do not use protease is because a dear and close freind to Elaine Gottschall (Lucy R. from Lucy's Kitchen) told us that this was why our daughter and I where having significant problems when we where using it. Burning, continued diarrhea and celiac crises symptoms in the beginning of our journey with SCD. When we stopped the protease the problems vnaished. It did not matter what kind of protease....all of it ELAINE DID NOT TURST, or like the use of, when a person was known to have damaged intestines...which could mean most of us on this serve. Elaine didn't put this in her last edition, yet shared it with outhers before she died. I even talked to DEVIN HOUSTON himself (at Houston's enzymes). When I shared the degree of intestinal damage that our daughter and I had, he also suggested not using the protease! At the time he did not know that our duaghter was autistic! He always suggests enzyems to those who are autistic! I felt this a interesting contradiction. Please note, that ELAINE felt that MOST AUTISTIC KIDS have DAMAGED INTESTINES. Just because they are not DIAGNOSED does not mean THAT THIS DAMAGE DOES NOT EXIST. These kids are truly suffering, just like my duaghter was. Even Mimi our moderator, trusts that Lucy R. is a true messanger of Elaine, and does not doubt the validity of this message I now share with you. Please if you have any doubt go check this out with Lucy or Mimi. I do not get thrills out of misguiding people. I only share with this serve, what Elaine thought works! Guest guest
I want to clarify this message. I agree that Lucy is a very close friend of Elaine and can be trusted. I agree that some children do not tolerate enzymes. However, other children do well with them. The best way to get an answer for this issue is to observe your child very closely. Guest guest
Cindy, A basic multiple is fine to add.... I don't think there is a set " rule " about when. You may want to wait until the first few weeks have passed, so you can judge any reaction to a new vitamin formula. Calcium and magnesium are also commonly supplemented for those kids who are beginning SCD without the legal dairy. Kirkman Labs has numerous supps that are SCD legal. Check out the list on www.pecanbread.com under " Supplements " for a list of many Kirkman products, as well as a list of what to look for on other product ingredient labels. There is no way we could ever list every supplement out there that is either legal or not... but this gives you a good starting point. Hope that helps... Patti supplements I have not started the diet yet, I am still reading, researching, and taking notes. My question is, when do you start summplements and which ones first? I understand that acidophulis is started around day five, other than that, I am unsure what else to be giving to my son. I used to give him a multi, but I recently learned it had corn in it. Even if corn was legal, there is no way it is for my son. Thanks for any responses Cindy (Kasam 4 1/2 ASD) For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
Guest guest
I have been chelating for 10 months- 38 rounds. I have stayed at the same dosing schedule throughout - 12.5 DMSA/ALA. I tried raising the dosage a couple of times, but felt too uncomfortable. I also have taken the same supplements along with HC & T3 without any changes. Lately, I am constantly nauseous & feeling pretty ill especially after taking supplements. I'm to the point of dread when it comes to ingesting my supplements. Apparently it must be a gut problem which my probiotics & enzymes aren't solving. I tested negative for gluten/lactose problems. I haven't seemed to be bothered by sulphur foods in the past, although I gave up coffee long ago because it seemed to cause nausea. Any ideas as to why this is happening now? thanks- Joy
Guest guest
Joy , I always link nausea with my liver, or blocked bile ducts. Are you taking Milk Thistle or something else to support your liver ? Taurine is good for better bile flow (also good for anxiety, feeling spacy and for distress) 1-2 capsules with meals. Just a last thought. I suggest when you want to up your doses, up DMSA first and keep ALA still 12,5 mg. Until you find you have settled with your new dose DMSA , then up your ALA. Could that work for you maybe.? ALA chelates using your liver. Could you use only DMSA for a while for the liver to " catch up " ? Hope you find the reason for your nausea soon.
