Guest guest
Jim, My husband had multiple blood clots in his lungs. They discovered this in the doctors office and immediately put him in a wheelchair and wheeled him thru tunnels to the hospital. This is a VERY dangerous condition. They started giving him injections to the tummy. He was also put on Coumadin to thin the blood and try to disolve the clots. Oh, the most important thing they did was rush him down to radiology and insert a IVC filter in the groin to try to catch the clots incase he had anymore trying to move. They told him that they needed to move fast because he might not make it down to radiology. The only time he had a lot of pain was the week before we found out he had the clots. One night he was in the bath room and let out a horrible scream. He had a very high pain tolerance so I knew something bad was going on. When I got in there he said he was having a hard time breathing and it felt like knives were stabbing him in his chest. I called my daughter and we got him back into bed and put a heating pad on his lung area. The pain stayed all night and he said he felt like he was sitting in the bottom of a swimming pool and trying to breath. The next morning we took him to the pulmonary doctors office. He was in the hospital for 6 days and they monitored his blood very closely because they had to get it so thin. They said it could take months for the clots to disolve. They gave him breathing treatments with a neublizer every 4 hours and seemed to help. Unfortunately on the 7th day I got a call that he had hemorraged and had no pulse. This is a very dangerous condition so make sure your brothers doctors are staying on top of this. Is he in the hospital? I think the name of the shots to the tummy was Levonox. Hope this helps, Joce > > My brother Dennis dx cc stage 4 in June of 2003 is now having a very > painful bout with blood clots (past 2 days) doc has him on two types of > meds.
