Guest guest
, The first rehab I went to 3 years ago was more typical. 3 times a week for 8 weeks. It was great and made a HUGE difference. At the time I was newly diagnosed and terrified. I didn't know what I could do and had no idea how to figure out what I could do. It's a bit different now. I'm more confident in my ability to do this. I don't necessarily like everything. By the time I'm done walking on the track, I'm breathless and exhausted. But one of the therapists sends me to sit and rest. I do sit for 10 or 15 minutes, rest, drink some water, maybe have a small snack and gather my energy for the next task. The walking seems so far to be the most difficult and demanding for me and that's probably because I push myself to go faster than I do on the treadmill. I surprised myself yesterday by doing a mile in my 20 minutes. I normally do between 2 and 2.5 mph on the treadmill. Doing a mile in 20 minutes means I was walking 3mph. I was astonished. Keep going to your rehab. I can only say it's one of those things that you'll get out of it what you put into it. One of my motivations is to jumpstart some weight loss. I'm sick of being this heavy and I'm hoping a program of this intensity will get the scale moving in a downward direction! My rehab is Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 2:15. I've already missed 2 classes. The first time I was home sick coughing up some "aspirated crumbs," the second was just this past Thursday and frankly, I just fell asleep.I get tired just thinking about it! We're given plenty of time to rest between exercises and drink our water. I just get absolutely exhausted. Rehab Tuesday, sleep ALL day Wednesday and on and on. I keep giving myself those mental pep talks, telling myself I asked for the rx and it is meant to help me. God bless ya lady! Seeing your bootcamp like itenerary gives me a more positive outlook of my meager rehab schedule. Your strength and positivity is quite encouraging. 34 FL IPF dx 1/06> > > Peggy,> Yup rehab Monday thru Friday 12:30-4:30. Don't think I'll be stupid > smacking anyone though dear. Guest guest
Miranda, I love the NuStep too! It's a great machine, isn't it! It makes me feel good. I have so much more stamina since starting rehab. I am allowed to go 3 days a week. I use the NuStep, arm bike, weights, treadmill, and walk. My favorite is the NuStep. I wish I could have one at home. Wow, I wish I could go in the pool. Let me know how it feels. The last time I went into the pool I was pregnant and there was too much pressure on my lungs. I wonder what it be like now.Good luck to you...MirandaLA / 28 yrs oldIPF 05> > > > > > Peggy,> > Yup rehab Monday thru Friday 12:30-4:30. Don't think I'll be stupid > > smacking anyone though dear.
