HI Jolene

That is interesting - that's where I would expect - but is on LEFT of

incisions - I figure everything got pushed over that way. They never told me

not to lift heavy stuff - I just use common sense - but boy it is hard to avoid

- with the little ones - I have to get out of bed in the middle of the

night to go " potty " still, sigh (which means lifting him down from his loft bed)

- guess that will be " someone else's " job for awhile...

Did the same surgeon who did the original surgeries do the hernia repair? How

long does it take to recuperate - I assume it is something simple.

Thanks,

MP

My husband had hernias where he had his incisions.. On right side where he

had gall bladder removed , and on lower left side where he had kidney

removed. He had them repaired twice.I guess is something we have to watch

out for, that those incisions could become herniated.. Watch what we lift

etc. and not heavy stuff. If you have a hernia you do need to have it

fixed. Be sure you talk to your surgeon about it. Take care Jolene

Re: One Question Interview-Dianna

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

That just made my WEEK. At least we can find some humor in the AWFUL

problem - and here I thought I was the only one! I am so glad to have met

everyone on here. This disease can be a real pain in the ASS. HA, HA.

Sorry for the raunchy humor - it worked on the oncologist today though! And

guess what everyone ; my CEA was 0.9 today! I am SO happy - have been

feeling a little paranoid and getting sort of " hypochondriac " lately

thinking something else is wrong....

Do have a hernia though - left abdomen - havent been able to talk to the

surgeon yet - didn't know what this was. Does anyone else have experience

with this? Could it have been caused from having the colon surgery? I

would welcome any info or experience on this.

Thanks Dianna for the joke! I loved it - will forward it to everyone I

know who is familiar with my " problem " .

No he had the original surgery for the gall bladder done when were stationed

in Germany, he was at army hospital in Nuremburg, and the kidney was removed

that army hospital here at Fort Hood. He had the hernia repairs done at the

VA hospital and am sure he had different doctors there as well. He

recovered quickly enough though the one time he recovered the quickest was

when they gave him a spinal or something like an epidural anesthetic. He

recovered quickest from that cause he wasn't all doped up etc. The surgery

is not really major, most they just open up the herniated area and close it

up and most times they reinforce it with a mesh lining and hope that will

hold good enough to prevent it happening again.

I know what you mean, is hard not to lift things when there is no one else

around to do it. I try to find other ways to do things.. cheers Jolene
