Guest guest
> I'm a bit confused about the statement " be very careful about > supplementing with ACE and HC... " I said that because I supplemented with both these things before I got saliva labs back. I ASSUMED I had low cortisol because I had all the symptoms for the greater part of the day. I felt better on all this support but put on about ten pounds within a week of adding in ACE together with licorice root. I don't know if it was the ACE or the licorice or maybe a combination of the two causing my body to produce a bit TOO much cortisol. This supplementation happened to coincide with some dreadful news, a horrible day where I lost a big court case (about my MCS) and I crashed, just hit bottom; My legs siezed up, my calves were so clenched tight I could hardly walk for a couple weeks. That's when this crazy weight gain happened all around my usually skinny middle. I stopped the ACE and licorice root but have continued the 20mg HC. Labs show I'm stage 4 and my daily cortisol burdern is oddly high but it's all in the first period of the day (and the wee hours of the morning.) The HC is getting me through the midday crash when cortisol is extremely low. I take PS through the night to relax the cortisol production and help me sleep. This is working well. I realize that ACE has no cortisol in it. Licorice also has no cortisol in it. But these things all together " seemed " to maybe stimulate, for me, too much cortisol production. I don't know this but have no where else to turn. All's I know is my usually trim body is still a funny shape: I lost 5 lbs of the weight but have retained this strange " tire " around my waist and my upper thighs are kind of swollen and lumpy. Now it's one month after the adrenal crash and one month since I stopped the ACE and licorice. I'm trying to take it REALLY easy and keep stress to a minumum and only very light exercise as I've read that these things make the cortisol stay in the belly fat. I read that belly fat has like 4 times the number of cortisol receptors and so when your body releases a whole bunch of cortisol all at once, the belly gets the main load. As I mentioned, I've been doing Dr. Rind's method of charting temps to get adrenals straight (this is requiring 20mg of cortef for me.) Now I am gradually adding in the sustained release T3. My temps are stable and up to about 98.2. I'm up to 52.5 mcg of T3. I REALLY want my old body back. Any ideas? ~robin
