Sorry all, I think my swollen fingers hit the send key and sent ya'll a

blank message...

Donelle, speaking of taking time off, what about the FMLA act? I haven't

looked into it for some time, but if you start the paperwork for that, you can

take time off....I don't think it is paid time but maybe you could offset

your 3 days per week with thisn if you are worried about your job? I don't

know, I just can't imagine myself telling one of my employees that they

couldn't

take all the time they needed off in this situation and pay the company

back with 110% efforts at a later date. Thinking of you guys....love donna

That's o.k., Donna...those blank messages are easy to read and understand!!!

LOL

I work in a small law firm that is not required to participate in the FMLA

act... I'm not worried about losing my job...just not getting paid for an

extended length of time.... Losing my job would probably be a God-send...LOL

Wish you were my boss...LOL What kind of work do you do, Donna...btw?

Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle

That's interesting about the law firm not having to participate in the FMLA.

Like I said, I haven't looked into it for years.

I am a GM for a BPO (business process outsource solutions) company. We are a

branch of a big corporation. Of course we have all the HR policies and

procedures that we are suppose to follow and you get PTO (paid time off) that

you accrue and no more!!! But I have several employees that give 200% when we

need it, some don't get OT because they are salaried so I say, take care of

your employees!! Cut them some slack when they need it and they'll give it

back. Some employees are just takers, I have those too, but if you don't take

care of your employees you have nothing....

I don't know if you get paid OT but I am sure you have put in your time with

enthusiasm and dedication. Talk to your boss....your time with Glenn is so

important to both of you.....

Certainly, just certainly, business or not, anyone with a soul and heart can

understand......

love you - donna

You would be surprised how many businesses considered " small " can fall in

that category, and it doesn't mean their volume of business either.. It has

something to do with the number of employees. Back in the hey day of comic

and collector comic my boss was doing pretty close to $250,000 a year and

she had between 5-8 employees, I know most evenings and weekends we worked

two to a shift. I don't remember what minimum wage was back in the late

70'z, mid 80's but we weren't getting it. Maybe 2.50 but probably less than

that. Hey times were rough back then. We didn't have a big Walmart, Target

etc - but we sure had a lot of over qualified unemployed people in the area.

Anyway which ever way our boss could get over on us she would use it. The

store was forever burning up condensers(or whatever they are called) etc on

the fluorescent lights, the air conditioner seldom worked -

But she would always was hire us back if we needed the work. Later on she

did pay bit better than minimum wage. I was getting $5.75 when I quit.

Still not a great wage. But was also used book store and I loved talking

with the customers. She wanted me to buy it but the place is losing money,

building falling down around them. LOL. Just a matter of time. Her brother

runs it now and made a mess of the place.. I refuse to go in there now. Oh

well so it goes. cheers Jolene
