Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, in case you missed the Colbert Report last night, here is a great link. Bobbi Bobbi Ryder President & CEO National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc. 1770 FM 967 Buda, TX (512) 312-5453 direct line (512) 312-5451 Mendoza , Assistant (512) 312-2600 www.ncfh.org From: United Farm Workers [mailto:ufwofamer@...] Sent: Friday, July 09, 2010 2:30 PM Bobbi Ryder Subject: UFW President on Colbert Report last night. See the video & sign the pledge. Dear Bobbi, Exciting News. UFW President Arturo was on Comedy Central's Colbert Report last night talking about the UFW's Take Our Jobs campaign. Did you miss it? Did you see it and want to show it to a friend? No worries. You can see it by clicking on the on the below link. Please watch the video and then take action and sign the AgJOBS pledge today! While Comedy's Central Colbert is a riot, the campaign is no laughing matter. The offer to recruit unemployed Americans is serious. Would-be farm workers can sign up via the Take Our Jobs website. Of the 5,000+ who have filled out inquiries, 3 people are now working in the fields. On his show, Colbert declared he would be #4. U.S. Agriculture is dependent on an immigrant workforce. Last week, President Obama recognized the vital role immigrant farm workers play in feeding America. Like the President we all know that deporting all undocumented farm workers would cause the collapse of the agricultural industry. This is why the UFW has launched the Take Our Jobs campaign. The effort underscores that we are a nation in denial about our food supply. The campaign is aimed at creating a national discussion about who does the work to feed our country. Sign the AgJOBS pledge today and take a stand to tell legislators that they should do all they can to support the bipartisan AgJOBS bill, created by both agribusiness and the UFW. http://action.ufw.org/agjobspledge --Jocelyn Sherman and the UFW Team Check out our website at: www.ufw.org and keep up with the latest news.
