Laminate wood flooring or Vinyl tiles???

I can't decide which to get for our living room. B & Q has some very cheap

hard wearing laminate wood flooring - but it's not water resistant, they

also have some very cheap wood effect vinyl tiles - but the laminate would

only be £40 more so not an issue really.

I worried about the laminate because drink spillages are a daily occurrence,

as is baby vomit ( yes- still!) and the children are so hard on things I'm

worried it would be ruined. Also I'm dubious about whether dh and I have the

necessary skills to lay it - is it hard? (it's a glue one)

But then I'm worried vinyl tiles will look cheap and nasty and be horrid to

walk on - but they will be very easy to care for and simple to replace one

should it be damaged. Plus we'll have a large rug down and visitors aren't

exactly going to be inspecting the floor with a magnifying glass are they?

I can't decide and neither can dh - any input gratefully received - TIA!
