New product? pain suppository

After Sam's surgery last August, the doctor gave him Lidocaine gel

to rub on the external anus. The box said for external use only. The

doctor said it is ok to put some internally, but my husband was not

wanting to even open the box and squeeze it internally. He kept

asking for a pain suppository, but never got it. However, during his

chemo/radiation treatments he was given Aquaphor so was using that.

Then someone gave him a pack of suppositories that says Lidocaine 3%

Hydrocortisone 1% and it is new I guess. Sam asked his doc if he

could use it, not wanting to do something that would mess up the

radiation treatments. He was begging for this before, but now he is

cautious? LOL The doc said, YES! and Let me tell my other patients

about this! I could not find the suppository online, only the cream

called AnaMantle HC Cream which comes with an applicator tip to

insert the cream into the rectum. The suppository is much less messy

and the dosage used would be more correct than just blindly

squeezing the tube of cream.

If this anesthetic suppository is not new, then it is new to me.

Wanted to share it with the members. Praying for everyone tonight.

Take care,

>Sam's surgery at the end of August removed an 8 inch or 22 cm

length of colon with a 6x6x5 cm tubular tumor. He does not have the

bag. He was reattached to the rectum, but he is having problems

adjusting. He constantly talks about pain and pressure all over his

abdomen, but won't take any Tylenol for the pain because he says it

is constipating. He has pain in the rectum area and wants a pain

suppository, but doctors will not give him a prescription. Doctor

says rub Lidocaine gel on the anus, which is not where the pain is

located. Lidocaine says on the box for external use only.
