Guest guest
Looks like we will not be having a home birth after all. Just saw the midwives. I'm spilling a lot of protein in my urine and I have gained 20+ lbs in the last month. My BP is a *little* up but not awfully - it was 140/90; my pre-preg normal was 130/80. But it is technically high bp so. They are calling another midwife who runs a clinic and they want us to go see her if she can get us in, but she will probably send me to the hospital. They said they will be surprised if nobody says I need to have the baby very soon. We're trying to find someone to keep the boys and Matt called his mom to see if she could come down if we need. God, I don't want to do this. I'm going to lay down now. -Sara.

Guest guest
Wishing you well Sara. I'm sorry that you can't have your homebirth. I hope you can continue to carry with no problems. Guest guest
Sara, I'm so sorry this is all going on. Trust me if anyone understand this I do. Try as hard as you can to eat a ton of protein. Rest and get into a bath that covers most of your body if possible. The bath will help the swelling. I hope that everything goes alright. If you need anything ask. Wish we were not spread all over the country because help is vital when you are going through this. Guest guest
I know how you must feel. I wanted a nice natural birth too, but biological realities made it impossible. As a veteran of nearly every imaginable unpleasant birth intervention, I can tell you that they all sound much worse than they really are. Please keep us posted, and let me know if I can offer you any insight on induction or c-section. Guest guest
Sara hon, I'm sorry you're not going to have the home birth you wanted. I know it's very easy to say, but having read about 's birth (the one that Matt wrote...gawd I cried buckets), I know why you're upset. But the others are right too, you need to rest up, try and not stress, I know i know, easier said than done. But try and focus on the end result honey. Healthy Baby and Healthy Mummy. Guest guest
>Rest and get into a bath that covers most of your body if possible. The bath will help the swelling. As if it needs to be said -- not a hot bath! Make it as cool as you can stand. Warm baths will raise your bp. Try not to think of this as 'bad', if you can -- think of it as a new adventure to the hospital! <weak joke> Jacquie -who also had preeclampsia
Guest guest
Sorry to hear this Sara. I know you wanted to do this at home, but I guess now the most important thing is for you and the baby to be healthy. Wishing you luck and an easy delivery.
