Guest guest
I'm sorry. I haven't been able to keep up with email. It's just as well, considering the bitchy mood I've been in. About four days ago, I started getting really hot and breaking out in sweats. This even happens in air conditioned rooms. It makes no difference what I'm wearing. Today this has gone on almost non-stop. I feel awful. Not sick, just really crappy. My mood is horrible, horrible horrible. I am too young (42) to be going through menopause I think. I don't even LOOK 42. But it does seem that that's what's happening. I can't take this much longer. Does anybody have a clue how long it lasts? I am going to die if this doesn't stop soon. Everybody is telling me I need hormones. Crap. I'm afraid my doctor is going to tell me I'm nuts and then I'll get pissed off and cuss him out. It's REALLY that bad. I'm not kidding. I DON'T WANT TO BE OLD, DAMMIT!!! Guest guest
Sissi, I was almost exactly the same age as you when the hot flashes started. It is awful and scary. I thought it was a heart attack or something. You are likely in perimenopause. Do check with your dr. He can help. I threatened mine with bodily harm if he didn't give me hormones! I told him I couldn't live with my dh or son if he didn't do SOMETHING! I have been on premphase since then and only in the past 6 mos. have my periods stopped. Sorry to say, you probably have several years ahead before it all stops. In the meantime, the pills help a LOT! I tried natural aides and they just didn't cut it. The hormones relieve most of the symptoms and you do feel better. I have several friends who took hormones and anti-depressants at the same time. Your doctor won't think you are nuts and if he does, get a new doctor. Leggs

Guest guest
Sissi, I hate to say this, but you're probably experiencing perimenopause, which is the onset prior to menopause and it can be ten years before the real thing is done! The peri symptoms can come and go or just go away for years. My physicians assistant recommended a hormone patch. It's supposed to be very low dose and safe for a couple years use. You'll have to do lot's of research to see what you feel comfortable with. I've had night sweats for over a year now, memory problems, weight gain and the start of acne...it sucks! is having problems with it too. There is a poll at the site on how many feel they are experiencing it and what age it started. Hang in there and we'll hope this is just temporary! Guest guest
I think you can buy green tea at any grocery store. I know I got mine from the local CVS, which is a drugstore, but it's Lipton brand, so...green tea is a bit more bitter than regular tea, but I like it. They made an appointment for me on June 11, so I called back and said I need help now. The nurse called me back an 4:15. I had stepped out of my office for minute and didn't hear my cell ringing. I called back at 4:17 and the answering service picked up. Isn't that a weird time to close a doctor's office??? Maybe tomorrow. Now I know WHY older women get their hair cut short and hate to cook in warm weather. I plan on living in the shower until this stops.
