Relocation Question: Westchester County NY

Hello Friends!

My family will be relocating to NY in the next few months, and I was

hoping to talk to some residents of the following municipalities,

simply to gauge their reaction to Special Needs Children. By the way,

we are also seeking a Verbal Behaviour modality for our child. Does

anyone think I should just call up the CPSE and talk to them in

advance of closing on a house? I would be much obliged!

hi. i don't live in westchester or rockland county, but i do live in orange,

which is right above rockland. the only thing i can say for sure about those

other counties is that they seem to have MANY more services than we do.

oftentimes if a child needs a specialist, they are sent to westchester. they

also have a number of pediatric psychiatric hospitals there. another good thing

is that they are that much closer to nyc which of course has a tremendous amount

of services. i think calling the cpse would be a good idea. there are also a

couple of yahoo groups you can join, but the only one i can think of offhand is

NYadvocates. i can look for more, if you'd like. good luck!

I'm in PA but my behaviorist is from NY. She specializes in verbal behavior

and is wonderful! I only have 6 hours with her a month but if you'd like I

I spoke with my behaviorist and gave her your address. She is familiar with

that area and will be emailing you in the next couple days. Her name is Joy

Brewster and she has been working with my daughter for a little under a year.
