(and everyone) thanks for posting;

Problem is that I just can't cope at all the next day having had a

disturbed night's sleep (because of my health problems) so will

probably have to go the belt and braces route ;-)} and continue using

Kooshies ( he has been dry for four nights and then last night ... sog

sog sog perhaps because we didn't get up at 6.45)

Have various flimsy plasticky layers from Mothercare and an excellent

one from Kooshies - might investigate SamIAm

but not sure whether you can wash a foam mattress; logically actually

thinking of bath sponges, I don't see why a spell in the bath could do

it any harm. What thinkest you'll?

I would think you could wash it, but getting it dry would be a total pita.

Hie thee hence to and get one of their fitted waterproof sheets -

towelling, with a laminate on the underside for 2/3 of its length (the idea

being that you don't want waterproofing under the pillow - I turn mine

upside down as I *do* want waterproofing under the pillow, but Josh never

uses the bottom third of his bed which is covered in cushions, lego and

dumper trucks!) Because it's fitted it doesn't wriggle about, and provides

me with much reassurance. Then, because I hate stripping the whole bed in

the middle of the night and because I want not to be under pressure to get

the waterproof layer clean and dry within a day, I have a square bit of

quite heavy-weight waterproof undersheet which I got from Mothercare. My

theory is that if Joshi has an accident, we can whip the square one off, and

the top sheet, and still have the fitted sheet as back-up insurance.

Fortunately, my theory has yet to be tested - my theories are usually full

of holes!!

Oh, and the one isn't sweaty at all - I know this as we also have

one on our bed, just in case of my waters breaking and staining our new

mattress (some years ago now - they didn't, needless to say!)

Hi Vicki

thanks for advice :-)) may I please forward it to DH as he is my Mr

Shopping as works v near Lewes ??? The fitted idea sounds great

and better than the tuckable Kooshie one, even using nappy pins as

well to try to stop rucking up; altho until he grows past the giraffe

and the owl on the chart his bed will stay in its currently contracted

state (IKEA bed that grows bigger)

DH also works near HMV store, lucky he's a

Man of Discipline in that respect!!! (I'm letting him in gently, but

he is currently Mr Branch acting Secretary but will probably swap that

for Mr branch Treasurer after the new year)

Has the catalogue arrived yet?

love

Yes, thanks - catalogue has arrived and I was waiting till after the disco

to ring you and try and fix some dates to get together! By all means pass

advice on to DH, though I think I'd feel I was missing something if I did JL

by proxy - just can't walk past that haberdashery...:(

Yep, DD1 has a foam pillow, You can stick it under the shower and get it

clean, but it stays soggy for ages. I certainly don't fancy a whole

mattress.

Mines all waterproof and came from Argos, who may be cheaper than JL.

(Says hand wash only, but seems ok on gentle in the machine)

Like wise I have a quilted waterproof pad, Boots I think. Which is small

enough to dry over the fire guard in front of the Rayburn.

It works most of the time, except when DD1 nearly made it and managed to be

half of the bed and get the non waterproofed edge of the sheet and the

corner of her mattress.

Re SamIAm bed protection, I have today bought another mat from my

local agent as I have realised that I have a second son who will need

same in due course and i don't want to risk not being able to get

one. Besides they are useful for 1,001 things. They wash and dry well

- and *quickly*. Only problem is that it does shift about *just* too

much for 'safety' on top of the sheet rather than under it.

Must be comfortable as we often end up in DS1s bed and we wouldn't

put up with something icky.

Plus the dark green background and bugs design are irresistible.

PS When DS1 was doing pretty well on the night dryness, we put him

into trainer pants (as well as having bed protection) and that worked

well as a half way house, till the whole toilet training thing broke

down day and night and he was wetting too heavily for the trainer

pants so he went back to night nappies.

Just a big (must be something like 3ft across) waterproof mat -

cotton print, quilted, and polyester on the other side. Not at all

plasticky.

It, er, helps if you have a generous local agent as a friend. I'd

forgotten the full price and having just looked at the website I

realise quite how big a friend she is!
