Guest guest
I can't help you much since I am not from the Houston area but I know others on this board who are. You are right. The ortho will make all the difference but choosing the right band is just as important. We once chose the wrong ortho and the wrong band and we still regret it to this day. My daughter is now in a DOC band. She will be getting a second one on Feb 2nd. We also go to Starcranial to get scans of her head on a regular basis and pay extra. I like to be able to see and compare things a little more accurately than just hand measurements. Anyway, remember that the STARband is supposed to have all of the possible correction in it, meaning that you will only need one band if you get good growth during the 6 months the band is supposed to last. The DOC band is different. It's good for 4 months max and depending of the severity, or how happy you are with the results, you might need a second one. My daughter never wore a STARband, but I can tell you that her DOC band has made such a big difference in very little time and she is now 1 year old. There was another mother on this board ( I think her name was Karine) whose son saw Bob and he got awesome correction in very little time. I hope someone else from your area will advise you better. (Why do we have to jump through hoops to get information We already know? Jeez! That is a different post.)She is 7.5 months old and time is of the essence. I am conflicted though. I keep hearing how important the right Ortho is.... I wanted to go to Cranial Tech here in Houston (actually The Woodlands but close enough) The doctor I met with today insited it wasn't neccessary and that she has only had one patient that did not receive great results the first time and had to go to a second band. She referred me to OrthoAmerica Doctor son.... Anyone have any referrals or information on him. I just need to make the right decision and am very conflicted. Orthoamerica is closer but I don't care about the drive I just want it to be done right and quick. My husband was a little uncomfortable with Dr Bob at Cranial Tech because he felt like Dr. Bob was being a salesman and on top of that we have to do the casting with plaster because they haven't gotten the digital cameras yet. They are further away and my insurance will only cover 70%...He has been doing it a long time though and seemed very confident. HE will of course use the Doc Band which I have come to think seems superior to the other bands from reading all if these posts. Dr. son with OrthoAmerica has been with them for 3 years and the nurse says he sees a couple babies a day with helmets, I can't find too much information on him and just want to make the right decision. My insurance will cover 90% of his costs and I am assuming he will use a Starband which I am not too thrilled on. Just seems to not have the greatest or quickest results. Any words of wisdom or information on either doctor. I am struggling with this but want to get moving ASAP. I have my 1st appointment with OrthoAmerica Thurs. morning to actually meet him. Last all my views are perception I have no actual experience or friend and family experiences to go with. I am looking to this group for help. Guest guest
I only had the choice of Starband and after 2 months, Dina's plagio has decreased by half (from 16mm to 8mm). I am very happy with the Starband and the results.Nina Plagiocephaly From: danielle1col@...Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2009 17:28:38 +0000Subject: Need Help! Guest guest
Thanks so much for the information. I hope Karine from my area will see my post. I would love to hear her thoughts on Dr. Bob. BTW your little Maysa is too cute! P.S. I just noticed I misspelled (The) in the title of the post. DUH!!! > > From: danielle1col <danielle1col@...> > Subject: Need Help!
